   I work for local government and honestly while I hate my job the work life balance is great. Tons of holidays, tons of time off, and I work 8-4pm. I also work from home 2 days a week. Only thing you really need for my job is a HS degree and customer service skills.

   Pay isn’t the greatest of course, especially for my specific job but there are higher paying jobs for people with tenure, degrees, or who pass tests. Benefits are also great (pension, healthcare, etc.)

   Im a dialysis nurse running a small dialysis clinic.  I work 3 days a week, no nights, no weekends and my boss lives hundreds of miles away.  

   The downside:  i get no scheduled lunch and because specialty training is required, it is impossible to find coverage when I want to use PTO

   Higher Ed isn’t bad. Student Services generally get decent amounts of time off, some places have flexibility in schedules/remote too. Pay sucks.

   Engineering consulting. Usually only 40hours a week and wfh sometimes.

   Government jobs seem to be this way, at least where I live. If you go into civil service as a white-collar professional, like a lawyer or accountant etc, you’ll never earn the big bucks you can get in private practice, but the pay is still decent and the working conditions are much better

   Just like one commenter here, i work for state government. Great work life balance. Unfortunately i dont have the luxury of working from home but my commute is easy. I work 6am-230. Holidays off. Its fairly easy to move up. Pretty great benefits.

   Only thing is pay isnt that great. For my unit specifically, management is blehh.

   I know a lot of successful people who have a ton of money. Almost without exception, they all work more than 40 hours a week. I also know a lot of people who are struggling. They usually work 40 hours a week.

   BUT, the old saying, if you like your job, you never work a day in your life is also true.
