Yakında tarihte lisans derecesine sahip olmak için, buradan nereye gidiyorum ??

Merhaba!

What’s your end goal? You *might* be able to teach with just a bachelors, it depends on your state. Masters abroad are almost never worth it, it’s not as valued in the states and it doesn’t really make you more likely to get a job abroad because you’ll still need visa sponsorship. There are exceptions for sure if it’s a technical PhD or really recognized school, but just in general it’s not usually valuable.

As a European, who knows a large number of Americans that came here with an idea of getting an affordable degree from a good uni, I can assure you that it never turns out affordable.

Most decent European (and Asian for that matter) universities charge pretty hefty tuition fees to non-EU nationals or non-nationals of the respective country in case of Asia. With degrees in English, the situation is even worse.

You will probably have a visa that will not allow you to work in the target country. In the end, it will be substantially more expensive that e.g. a state school in the US.

You can save money, if you have really good grades and want to go to an actual top school. Most of these are ridiculously expensive in the US and really comparatively cheaper elsewhere. But I am not sure how likely it is that you would get an offer from one of these.

About as useful as a liberal arts degree.

I say that with little sarcasm because today’s job market is brutal, plus history can be insta checked with any AI (chat gpt, Gemini, etc).

Try to work for a museum if possible as a curator or archivist or other similar positions in your state. You can also apply for local and state government trainee jobs such as personnel trainee, investigator trainee, administrative assistant, etc. Maybe try becoming a park ranger for your state at historic state parks if possible (avoid working as a park ranger for the federal government). Try searching for local and state government jobs in your state via governmentjobs.com.

Make sure to not pay for a master’s degree completely out of pocket. Either get a full ride or work for an employer who will at least pay for most of your master’s degree. I have a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, which helped me get my first state government job six years ago as a wage investigator trainee. Currently, I work as an external affirmative action and EEO investigator for the same state government department that gave me my first full-time and permanent state government job. I also used them to pay for most of my MPA degree (which I have obtained earlier this year).

You do not have to have a job directly related to your history degree. I know plenty of people in government with all types of bachelor’s degrees working in jobs unrelated to their degree (but their bachelor’s degree was needed to get their first state government trainee job position; from there they gained experience to apply for higher paying state government jobs).
