If you are in the US, it’s best to go back to college and get your bachelor’s degree out of the way!

Hey. Spent some 7/8 years in kitchens as well. Needless to say, get the hell outta’ there as soon as you can (unless you are absolutely passionate about it and are interested in working fine dining, i.e. low volume/high ticket). I remember my first day working in a kitchen and I told my coworker I was interested in maybe pursuing the path. All he said to me was “don’t”. xD

Anyways. It sounds like you at the very least enjoy working with people. Considering you know the food industry, if you’re good with people, I’d say find a serving job instead. FoH is 10x better than BoH, both in pressure and in pay. It’s kinda’ bullshit to be honest, but it’s just the way things are. As far as work for the interim, that’d be helpful at least.

And then, as far as working in corporate or going back to school.. that totally depends. Do you have a vision and a plan for yourself? Do you have a life path? Can you see what you desire to build 20-30 years in the future? If not, then corporate is just another kitchen and school is just a waste of money.

Most corporate jobs are going to require a bachelors degree to get in at entry level, even if it’s an unrelated bachelors. You could maybe get in in an admin assistant role, but even that would still have a preference for someone with a degree.

Not sure where you are located. I work for one of the top auto insurance companies in the US. While my first job at the company was handling claims and it required a degree __OR__ (x) amount of years in customer service, many people start on the phones which doesn’t require much background.

The company is specifically set up for anyone who has goals to get where they want to go & the only person who holds you back is yourself. It’s pretty great. So what commonly happens is people start at very very entry level and then move to another department & just go up the ladder from there.

Take a break from school to recover your mental health and then go back, take care to not put too much on your plate at once, take just one or two classes until you know you can handle it.

What kind of corporate job? Like human resources? Data analytics? Marketing? It would be easier to answer if you specified what kind of job. You might be able to get a desk job answering phones something without a degree, but generally, yes, you will need one.

I’ve been there, I went restaurant to food service as well after dropping out.
