Remote jobs don’t mean remote anywhere, tax and compliance will generally keep you region locked.

A job with average pto will give enough time for 2-3 trips a year. You’ll get more vacation and flexibility as you move up, biggest priority should be getting a decent paying job and start working towards that.

Don’t worry about building your career right away. Find a way to travel and support that goal. Your experience will guide your future.

I found after a few years I wanted to settle down. Went back, moved to a new city in my home country, and found a job. I still love traveling but I don’t feel like I am missing out on life by working because I’ve lived so much life that a trip every 1-2 years is fine.

Other people have gone different routes like setting up full time in another country, finding ways to be digital nomads with remote work, etc.

Please don’t miss out on your life because you’re worried about working. Travel, make it work, and figure out life as it comes.

If in the US , the general employer view on job gaps is not in ones favor. The amount of PTO provided is often not great either. However, you can save money aggressively for a few years, then have one 2ish year travel experience (not hard to find people that couldn’t find a job in their field for two years), and then come back to settle down (and probably restart honestly). The longer one waits, the harder that is to do though (partners found, kids considered, bills adding up, student loan payments kicking in, potential layoffs, ect). Some have been able to hop in and out of employment, (working for a year then not the year after), but that is tough and doesn’t look great on a resume (again the view on employment gaps)
