Art becomes your hobby. You cannot live on a art career. Enjoy it as a release in life.
In meantime find the least physical and mentally demanding job , that cost little in education to start and pays living wage in end. Something you can start in and they pay to train you for promotion.
Look into local , county or state civil service jobs available.
Those jobs are usually union, offer the most generous time off , good medical and retirement system.

An art therapist is a type of therapist who just uses creative arts as one of the modalities they use; it’s not fun creative work, and there’s actually no creating as part of your job.

Everything else you list is kind of all over the place, and several of those fields just don’t pay well overall.

Being a content creator is straight up not realistic, so cross that one off the list; the vast majority of people never make enough money to actually do that as a living.

Regarding the others; what’s your current skill level when it comes to art? What kind of training do you already have? Are you willing to be self employed and have to build up a client base while also paying for some kind of space rent (common for most of the jobs you listed)? Are you willing to make a low income, possibly long term? What’s your current skill level with hair, makeup, and/or nails? What is it about each of these roles that appeals to you? These are the kind of things that you need to be able to answer to determine what, if any, of these you should pursue.

Can you try to shadow someone in each of the positions you mentioned that you are interested in? Then take the steps to make one of those careers your reality.

You can make money as a tattoo artist, make up artist or nail tech, but go into the industry with the understanding that if you take the self-employed route it requires effort & consistency. The income isn’t always stable either.

And as much as people say art is a hobby what types of jobs give the average person the mental energy to keep going after it outside work, which is most of your life?

Especially in occupations like nursing. Maybe, if you’re able of course, see if you can do part-time work, and then do freelance on the side? That way you’re building toward something you do love while making some income that’s consistent. I’m not sure, I’m in the same boat where I can’t see myself in a career that I’m not interested. When it’s a 40 hour week job that consumes a vast majority of my life, I’d rather it be something I enjoy so that majority isn’t hell.

I hope you figure it out. As an aspiring journalist, I’m struggling with this too. You got this.

Work as a speech therapist so that you have money to pursue your passions. My clinical work supports my global health work.

I relate DEEPLY to your issues OP. I also pursued a medical career because of family despite knowing it was something I never wanted for myself and I hated it so much when I was in healthcare.

I’m still figuring my shit out….I feel so directionless now but I never regret leaving my healthcare job, it was killing me. You might have a different experience if it’s something you can tolerate.

I think you have time to try multiple things and see what you like. After all, that’s the only way you’ll ever know. You don’t have to stick with just one thing. Try everything that you can until you find your thing!!

healthcare is a solid career. maybe not fully recession proof but the need is there all the time. are you reasonably intelligent? Physician Assistant is in demand. nursing. surgical tech. art can be your hobby. a great way to ruin an interest is to need to make money from it.

As a person who has majored in art “chasing your passions” is a small fraction of figuring out what you want to do and should do. I know a lot of people have told me the same rhetoric “fashion, design, art you’ll just be a starving artist!” (But now I pay rent for my family and has made a decent chunk of savings for a year or two.)

Honestly I’ve seen it all from artists making their own studio, practice, and work under a studio, but also several stories of people giving up the profession because of how unstable it is.

What I recommend if I was back in my highschool days I highly recommend you doing some research and just reach out to a couple of artists you know in your circle. If you don’t search it up and just start messaging them, make it genuine what do you what to pursue in your craft and how can you make that practical to bring in money. It is obviously not your end goal but it will sure as hell make your life affordable and not deflate your inspiration when you are in the thick of it.

Figure out what it took for them to get there some of them didn’t even have formal education or some went to the most prestigious colleges in the world. Do you have a budget for college which college can you ideally afford? If you have a deadline apply for community college first and you can always make your decision and transfer after first year, that is always an option and no shame in it at all. It’ll help you make an educated decision with all this info. You don’t need to rush you have literally the rest of life ahead of you.

Ik this is a ramble — DM me if you have any questions happy to be a source of info for a upcoming art person!

Absolutely do not do medicine if you don’t love it. You will waste your time studying and then completely burn out. Do something else.
