Content quality. No contest. Technical SEO is basic maintenance. Backlinks are an amplifier. Neither creates value where none exists.
hey u/AlgaeOk3354 – welcomd to the sub.
I think this is the easiest question to answer in the world!
Firstly – critical thinking. “TechSEO” only exists because technical web engineers are traditionally siloed in a world where they just fix broken links, 404s, access errors, or enforce things like meta-descriptions and page title lengths.
The problem is that the instant results that they get and the brain dopamine reward system means that their faith is placed entirely within what they do and they reward (attribute) success in it.
What they’re discounting and always will, because its a threat to this: how PageRank really works. And so we are in theis bizarre world where fixing 404s and broken links restores the PageRank “Powerlines” that are links flowing authority….yet they deny authority…. go figure.
The problem for a new site is that you’re in a prime position to test this. Without authority, and without broken internal links – how can your site rank? It cannot.
Secondly – if its not borken, then what is “techSEO” going to solve?
Unless by TechSEO – you mean your platform stack as a “quality” signal.
This is just absurd — why would Google care about your tech stack? It doesnt even parse HTML because there are so many borken flavors and implementations out there.
Kyle Roof, Edward Sturm and David Quaid talk about this all the time and how even Google keeps having to state that fast pages dont make content better – its a circular logic trap that web devs create and then fall into all the time
>On-page SEO: keyword targeting, title tags, meta descriptions, headings, and content that actually matches search intent.
This is the publisher trap: thinking that stuffing SEO “snacks” into your page makes bots happy. Again, all you’re doing is adding relevance and meta-descriptions and content are weak. IF your page is called ‘Hotels in Dubai” – then thats what its relevant to. Mentioning a Ferrari isn’t going to move your page into the Ferrari indexes, unles you have heaps of topical authority.
So you’re left with one place: You need external authority because you have none. And if you started with – what am I missing – you would have just ended up here anyway. In the end – all roads lead to authority because Google already has content covering every topic that already has search volume. And as SEO is a displacement game- i.e. you have to move above someone else who is already ranking” – thinking that by “ansering intent” (well how did they get here?) – is just more circular thinking
Hope that helps
