Hey, sorry you’re dealing with this
The bad news: Google basically put your domain in the “don’t trust yet” category when it saw that malicious content. Even though you’ve cleaned everything, that reputation doesn’t reset overnight. For a brand new site with no authority, you’re fighting an uphill battle.
Some things to check:
– Make sure there’s truly NO leftover malware (run Wordfence or Sucuri)
– Check GSC for manual actions (Security & Manual Actions section)
– Verify your domain isn’t still on any blacklists
Real talk though new sites after malware attacks can take 3-6 months to get properly indexed again, even with perfect cleanup. Google needs to see consistent signals that you’re legit now.
What helped me in a similar situation:
– Got a few quality backlinks from established sites (even just 2-3 helps)
– Expanded the content significantly thin content on a sketchy-history domain is a red flag
– Published regularly to show the site was actively maintained
– Just kept being patient and requesting indexing once a week
If the site is truly brand new with no backlinks or traffic, honestly sometimes starting fresh with a new domain is faster than rehabilitating one with malware history. Sucks but it’s reality.
What does your Coverage report in GSC actually say about why pages aren’t indexing? That might give us more clues.
>As the site is new, it has no authority. This may be something to explore if you have any advice on this issue. And, the content is not long, but I think it is of sufficient quality to be indexed.
No Authority = No Indexing, sorry
Yeah, that situation is rough. When a site gets hacked early, Google sometimes treats it with extra caution. First thing I’d do is check the Security Issues section in Search Console and submit a review if anything is flagged. Even cleaned, Google needs that “all clear” before it starts trusting your pages again.
Past that, a brand new site with no links can sit in “crawled but not indexed” limbo for weeks. Adding a couple of clean internal links, publishing fresh content, and picking up even one or two legit external mentions can help tip it over. Think of it less as a sitemap issue and more as Google wanting to see signs the site is safe and worth surfacing.
Were you able to completely dehack the site? I’ve dehacked many wordpress sites and once they get “blacklisted” it takes a lot of effort to convince search engines they are clean. I would go to Sucuri Sitecheck and check if you’re blacklisted anywhere or not. There are also other hacked and blacklist checkers online. Also make sure you have a good security plugin running and 100% clean install of wordpress, plugin, and theme files. If none of that works, you might consider a fresh WP install with a different domain name
Get backlinks. That’s it!
