You would be fighting against yourself. In my industry one of my competitors has 50+ websites all different domains. In theory this is great as you’ve more exposure but you compete with yourself. And if you’re running Google ads this is bad.
Cool idea, but you don’t really need a separate website for every keyword. It’s better to create dedicated landing pages on your main site cheaper, easier to manage, and it keeps all your SEO strength in one domain.
One of the best things I did at a previous employer was to kill off all their specialized websites. These were all e-commerce sites. Overall, they had a net drain on company resources and basically divided traffic. Once I consolidated all the sites, traffic and sales took a sizeable jump.
If I were in charge of the web strategy for the theoretical plumbing company above, I’d stick to one good site. I’d definitely leverage Google and Bing business pages and focus on getting good content focused around those keywords.
Kinda off topic but I just made my website for my business and I keep seeing this thing about needing to maximise SEO or whatever and I really don’t understand…like I made the website and I put good descriptions of our services…so now I also need separate pages for every area we service as well?? And copy the same description to what, this seems so stupid to me, it would just fill the site with pages that are all the same but with a different title
This was a great strategy up until around 5-6 years ago, when exact match domains were still very powerful. EDM’s can still work, but require more effort than before, as language models have become a LOT more sophisticated in comprehending a site’s content, and not relying as much on keywords.
It’s expensive and usually not worth it, Google sees it as spammy and thin content. Better to build authority on one strong domain and target multiple keywords there.
