Ülkemin ikinci en iyi üniversitesinde tercih ettiğim majör okumak ya da ülkemin en iyi üniversitesinde farklı bir ana dal seçmek arasında kaldım.
Ãœniversite giriÅŸinin ulusal sınav sıralaması ile karar verildiÄŸi bir Asya ülkesiyim. Bu yıl, yaklaşık 250.000 öğrenci bilim pistinde yarıştı, 1. sırada en iyisi ve en düşük 250.000. Gurur duyduÄŸum 210’ı yerleÅŸtirdim, ancak herhangi bir ana dal seçmeme izin verecek kadar yüksek deÄŸil.
Bu rütbe ile ülkenin en iyi üniversitesine girebilirim, ama istediğim alanda değil. İkinci en iyi üniversite tercih ettiğim ana dalımı sunuyor, ancak ünlü kütüphane ve diğer kaynakları gibi en üstteki avantajlardan bazıları yok.

Ben olsaydın ne yapardın?
Ülkemin en iyi üniversitesini Harvard (ya da Ivy) ve ikinci en iyi olanı güçlü ama daha az prestijli bir okul olarak düşünün. Artık kabul edilecek kadar iyi bir sıralamam var, merak ediyorum, tercih ettiğim ana daldan vazgeçmek anlamına gelse bile en iyi üniversiteye kaydolmam gerekip gerekmediğini merak ediyorum, çünkü üniversitenin kendisi gerçekten istisnai.

It depends, do you see yourself growing to like the major or will you always have regrets. Also look at it as job wise vs major wise. Like yes studying it would be great but will the job have the same feeling. Personally I would go with preferred major. At the end of the day they’re both good universities
I had the same dilemma. We had the same public university entry exam too. My top choice of degree course was to do it at the top uni on the list which i knew i was fully qualified, barring the unknown like over application. I put my second choice to be the same choice of degree but at the next best uni. Only the 3rd choice was another course which i less favoured but back at the top uni (sacrificing my interest/talent but at a coveted place). I was fortunate to be given my top preference of both course and location.
So i would suggest the same to you: maintain your prefered study. The top or 2nd top uni wont make any difference. Never sacrifice your interest/talent for a place of ego literally.

Some countries are VERY much more hung up on prestige than others.
eg Japan – go for the school name! above anything else!
Malaysia – meh – do what makes you happy so long as it is in the top few.
Asia’s a big place!
