Öğretmeyi sevip sevmediğimi anlamak için ipuçları?
Merhaba ben 27M. Bilgisayar bilimleri alanında lisans derecem ve matematik alanında yan dalım var. 5 yıldır yazılım mühendisi olarak çalışıyorum. Bu süre zarfında profesyonel olarak kodlamadan sandığım kadar keyif almadığımı öğrendim.
İnsanlara bir şeyleri açıklamaktan her zaman keyif aldım. Daha önce kamp danışmanı olarak çalıştım ve bire bir ders verdim. Öğretmeyi isteyip istemediğimden emin değilim. Uzun vadede maaş kesintisi olacağını biliyorum. Ancak yaptığım şeyden nefret etmeyeceğim bir şey bulmaya çalışıyorum.
Yazılıma birkaç yıl daha ayırmayı ve bunu yaparken de bir ton tasarruf etmeyi düşünüyorum. Olabildiğim kadar tutumlu olmaya çalışıyorum. Daha sonra, bunun üstesinden gelip gelemeyeceğimi görmek için bir yıl kadar yan öğretmenliğe geçebilirim. Bundan sonra matematik eğitiminde yüksek lisansa ya da sadece bir öğretmenlik sertifikasına gitmek.
Bunun yerine düşünmeye değer başka kariyer seçenekleri var mı? Ne yapmam gerektiğini anlamaya çalışmanın daha iyi yolları var mı?

Substitute teaching is a great option because it allows you to explore different age ranges, subjects, environments without needing to dedicate a large amount of time.Â
With this economic environment, I would keep that software job for as long as you can and teach as a passion project.
Have you considered solutions engineering? Or integration and implementation roles?
learn AI – everyone should
think about statistics, applied math type jobs,
go to teachers sub. As a math teacher you will probably get a good salary.
I think subbing could be a good way to dip your toe! I know that teaching generally requires a teaching degree of some sort so i guess it depends on specifically what you’d be teaching.
Also try searching for community classes in your area. (Not community college, but like open classes to to the community/public)

Honestly man, some of the teachers subreddits I’ve seen they describe their students like prisoners their guards for.
Ask a teacher if you can sit in on one of their classes.
You can substitute teach (I do and I love it ) but keep in mind from anywhere around fifth or sixth grade on up through 12th grade you’re really not gonna be doing much teaching and anything below those grades you’re probably not gonna be teaching the things you’re super good at (computer, science and engineering). Once you get to middle school and high school as a substitute teacher, the kids are really already doing their work on online, they’re self directed. You’re really just there to take attendance. Make sure that they’re staying on task and not destroying the classroom or each other. it’s the younger grades that you get to teach but we’re talking elementary level, math, language arts, art, etc. and whether you like it or not at least 75% of the job is managing behavior rather than teaching the subject matter so just something to keep in mind.
The real question is how do you feel about being poor???
I’m going to give a different recommendation. If you work for a software company, why don’t you try to move into a training position? Or something that’s more UX were you interact with customers and take their feedback to improve the program? That would help you start moving from a more introverted pure coding role and get you thinking and speaking on your feet like teachers do.
I would definitely explore substitute teaching first. Low committal and honestly it’s pretty fun because the students are usually pretty excited to see and hear from someone new, especially if it’s elementary or middle school.
I initially majored in education but then swapped to Journalism about half way through my bachelor’s due to my state government just not helping schools and teachers with salaries at the time.
Just keep in mind your salary absolutely matters, and a lot of teaching jobs pay terribly unfortunately and they are super underappreciated and often burn out fast.
I did do substitute teach when I was looking for my first job in TV, and I honestly remember it being pretty fun.
Do you like working with kids? Can you handle working with kids who should act older but don’t because they’re differently able or even just having a hard week and going through something? Do you like kids more than you like your subject? Then maybe teaching is for you.
If you’re passionate about educating the subject matter, specifically, and couldn’t care less about literally caring for the big babies in your room, then maybe being a professor is more your zone.
Elementary and middle school hardly get to dig in to subject matter because they’re focusing on caregiving. Middle and high school hardly get to dig into subject matter because they’re focusing on classroom management and battling apathy. I think if you want to experience people who want to learn, and aren’t there because they have to be, then you should work with young adults at the community college level or above.
But if this is about loving children, and you don’t care about whether you teach science and math or not, then ignore what I’m saying! Because we need more people who really wanna help kids and meet them where they’re at… I just don’t know that is what you’re looking for based on how you typed your post
