High school diploma here and I’ll break 115 with almost no overtime this year. Industrial Maintenance. Started at an entry level job and changed employers as I gained more experience.
You can also look into trade apprenticeships and see what one sounds enjoyable to you. Most start in the 20s Electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, welding, hvac, even automotive mechanic (some dealerships have master tech programs where you start at a low hourly pay and after about 2 years are making a flat rate pay in the 30s+
Sales that doesn’t require any experience.
Sales, start a business, work your way up in retail
Air traffic controllers.

You can get certifications that’ll help you find work. There are some certifications out there for cybersecurity, you can get into security you can work at a bank teller, you can work at a call center. If you’re brave and smart enough you can try to work for yourself and start your own business.
Sales jobs are the only ones that are going to pay anything, assuming you are good and can make sales.
If you don’t want to do that route and don’t want any higher education at all, your only option to pick an industry(retail, a trade, tourism, hospitality, etc.) and work your way up from the bottom, perhaps to a supervisor role.
Not sure if you are opposed to going to school because you don’t want to spend the money, don’t feel like it’s right for you or lost motivation to learn anything new, but many companies, Walmart is a good example, will pay for you to get a degree and will train you on skills you’d normally have to pay for. For example, once eligible, you can apply to their various programs, they train mechanics and truck drivers, all at their own expense and you are guaranteed a job. Finding good paying jobs with no degree outside of sales is a grind, good luck.
Most tradesmen I know personally didn’t go to trade school and started with apprenticeships or lower positions and worked their way up to higher paying ones. Maybe this varies by location but it doesn’t hurt to look around if there’s a particular trade that could interest you.
Look into trade apprenticeships or try to get involved in trades somehow. As you get more experience in these careers, you can move up without a degree. You could also get started in a restaurant and move up the chain there, eventually into management (you’ll be started off in an entry level position like cooking, serving, dishwashing, or hosting, but eventually you’ll move up).
What do you think is the highest you can get for a highschool diploma?
With utube, you can learn/study and learn a lot of different ways to earn more $$$$$.
Heck, just cleaning up the backyard of dog pop could get you plenty of $$$. Charge an initial clean-up fee plus a weekly or monthly maintenance charge.
All you need a a small scoop/shovel and a container to be able to carry the waste to the trash can.
Probably working offshore on the oil fields
Chipotle. Store managers do well.
Probably solar sales
Procurement. I make 6 figures plus bonuses and excellent benefits (hybrid schedule only go into the office when there is a reason to, all business trips and expenses fully paid for, 401k + pension) I worked for several industries and worked my way up along the way. I learned on the job and pretty much had an opened mind no ego and did not care for titles although I earned each one along with the respect. I asked a lot of questions and learned about each system. I’m in Indirect Procurement. I worked for several Fortune 500 companies which required degrees. However, they took me over college degreed candidates due to my experience in strategy, systems, project management, stakeholder management, storytelling, and AI. I learned how to actively listen the needs of the business and created relationships along the way with leaders and suppliers alike. People think Procurement is just buying things not realizing we literally learn about the business as a whole and connect the dots. I can go on and on but I love what I do.
Sales, trades, starting own business
There are a few high paying jobs you can get without college or trade school. Sales jobs like insurance or real estate can pay a lot with commissions. You can also try commercial driving or skilled labor jobs where you get trained on the job and sometimes get licenses through your employer.
If you’re good at talking with people, go into sales (especially with something you’re interested in) and start working your way up the chain. 15-20 years after graduating, I have friends making well over six figures in those jobs, with no student debt.
Trucking no longer an option?
McDonald’s.
Chic-a-fila actually if you work your way up.
Working in tables games at a casino pays pretty well. You’ll have to go through dealer school but you don’t have to pay for it at a lot of joints.
If you don’t want to sell your body, sales!
