Millionth time this question was asked

The answer would be something along the lines of medicine, STEM, and business/finance.

Amongst all the degrees that exist, the ones within these categories tend to be the most worth it.

Medicine is the most stable and doctors/surgeons are highly paid. Nurses and PAs aren’t paid as highly but their income is still good. Engineering fields like mechanical engineering will always be a good choice, since the skills from this degree can be applied to almost every industry. Econ/Business related majors are also valuable, as every industry is a business.

Accounting, if you can get Big 4 you have great opportunities in business and finance. Be proactive with networking, talking with recruiters from day 1. Even if you don’t get big 4 you’ve got solid career outcomes. Finally, it’s a more stable market than things like comp-sci and there’s currently a shortage of CPAs.

If you can get into the program, nursing will be the most future proof and has the lowest unemployment.

Tech is still the best in terms of overall pay potential for a 4 year degree.

Finance/accounting has easier courses, relatively speaking. But the future is far less certain.

Medicine. There’s a ton of degrees other than MD/DO that takes way less time and is wayyy cheaper – think MA, PA, all the nursing related degrees, ect.

I’d honestly be wary of STEM rn if ur in the US. Idk how the job market is gonna look in a couple yrs but by the way things are going, it’s probs not gonna be good.

CS used to be a good degree years ago, but with over-saturation and AI idk how that’s gonna go either.

The most broad and and advanced you can pull off. I wanted to go into the upper levels of construction so I got a civil engineering degree. I have worked in project management, pre-construction planning, and cost estimation. They all loved the degree and i get 2 or 3 messages per week for jobs. Figure out the broad strokes at first then you can figure out the fine details later based on opportunity and desire

Get into construction. It is a dirty job that no one wants: harsh environment, weather dependent, uncouth colleagues, long hours, faraway postings etc.
The pay is great, the demand is there and it is a varied sub-fields that you can pick and launch your own business.

The key is to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing. Find something no one has heard of. Be the best at it.

For me it was more about what will actually get a degree from so I went with a B.A. in Humanities. My part time job I thought was close to worthless was just as important as my degree. With them combined I got ahead in time.

Avoid medicine. Get experience is a hands on market such as electrician, plumbing, sales, or construction/ project management.

Also avoid Computer science or IT as the market is over saturated and employers are hiring from abroad to save revenue ( hiring from India/ Bangladesh or other East Asian countries).

    Sucks but that is reality.

    Finance/ business.

It’s a very easy degree, you can get it cheap. It’s offered everywhere.

And it basically just tells employers you can do basic math/problem solving.

It gives you all the benefits of a business degree, while standing out against most of them.
