Merhaba, ben 17F. Üniversitede hangi bölümü okuyacağıma karar vermem gerekiyor. Tüm seçeneklerle eşit derecede ilgileniyorum, dolayısıyla kararım hangisinin bana daha yüksek maaş verebileceğine bağlı.

Ülkemde finansal başarıya ulaşmanın en garantili yolu olduğundan tıp okumaya neredeyse hazırım ama borç beni endişelendiriyor.

Mechanical Engineering
it’ll depend a lot on which country you’re in, but yeah, medicine is generally pretty solid and reliable
I would definitely go medicine as it’s pretty recession/depression proof in terms of overall economics then mechanical engineering is still a good option given that it would be free.. Do not go CS at this point, it’s oversaturated.
You gotta also have a little bit of interest, what’s drawing you to these other than money? I’ve been in IT/Cybersecurity for almost 12 years, it’s not what it’s cracked up to be.
Also all these fields have different paths, what exactly in each are you looking at?
The only thing I think you’d make bank from in the CS side is getting a base degree and then a MLS (which doesn’t really need formal law school) and go into the law side of cybersecurity or information tech.
I’d advise against computer science unless you are competitive and tenacious
This depends on your willingness to voluntarily engage in self-discipline. Mech E will get you into the workforce faster with a very good salary. If you live below your means and invest, your net worth will be greater than if you enter the workforce later as a doctor with debt. Money is important to the extent that you can provide for yourself and those you love, but it is not everything. Either of these options will easily accomplish that, but there may be other options as well that align with more meaningful goals than zeroes in the bank.
As a 29F who graduated in software engineering many years ago, did ok for herself and is now pursuing a career in nursing, I can tell you there’s good money in each and every one of these fields. I graduated with peers who pursued these majors and are doing well for themselves as young adults.
What I wish I understood when I was your age is the lifestyle different career paths offer, the flexibility, the tax benefits, the opportunity to transition into ownership, the professional social life, etc.
DO NOT DO Computer Science except if you actually have a passion for it, you’ll get burnt out looking for internships, I’m saying this as a fellow 17F who is in her first year of Comp Sci. Computer Science doesn’t have good job security, internships and entry level jobs are very competitive. Mechanical Engineering is a better degree it’s very versatile, has more job security, the only con is it’s a harder degree but it’s worth it, my dad is a mechanical engineer and got a MBA master’s he is doing good 🙂
Consider a career as an anesthesiologist. They get paid top dollar.
Medicine or mechanical engineering would be a good choice. Just what ever you do, don’t do computer science. I did that and can’t find a job despite professors saying I have talent. Just choose whatever interests you better, either mechanical engineering or medicine.
Medicine -> Med School -> residency -> specialized doctor for highest *consistent* paychecks. Very few make it, but those that do have solid job security
Cons:
1. Takes longest, stressful journey, requires upmost academic excellence, long hours low pay during internship and residency
Computer Science -> High pay in High cost of living cities/states. Roles in non-tech/non-startups/non-HCOL will most likely top out at around as much as a low paid doctor when you get to late career. Overall, pay is comparable to other, non-doctor areas in healthcare/medicine
Cons:
1. Poor job security. Tech market is littered with layoff cycles and it’s really difficult getting opportunities when you have less than 5 YOE. Pay drops outside the US
Mechanical Engineering -> don’t know any MEs personally, and I was never curious about this career path, so I have nothing to say here.
