You are seeing the world for what it is. And unfortunately you are correct. The twisted reality is there is nothing we can do about it. “just pay the bills” is all we can do. And we are just stuck with everything being expensive and everyone being overworked. Our country is made for billionaires. Not ordinary people like you and me. Go to college equals being in debt. Buying a house even more debt. All a trap to keep you working long stressful hours.

I think it depends on what path you’re talking about.

The path it seems you mean is the mainstream path. They need a lot of people following that one to keep society together and moving.

Then there is your own path. Much harder and much more rewarding.

It’s hard first because you have to find your own path that’s just yours. Your path may be observing people at a gas station.

It may be artist, musician, sculptor, marathon runner, creator of little funny things. It could be anything.

That path is the one that’s rewarding.
You may not have a house you can’t afford but you’ll know you’re doing what you were meant to do.

When I was young I was very creative and loved art and music. So, the path of going to school ,getting a job and buying a house seemed ridiculous. But as life went on… and probably because I tried out a bunch of things and had fun and failed and was successful at times, I got that out of the way. Then I got tired of not having enough money for the simple things like food, housing and a car.

I did some serious research on finding out what jobs I might enjoy.Google Occupational Tests.

When I got a job I enjoyed, that changed everything in my life. It was the best choice I’ve ever made.

I had to go back to school for a year and work. But I was happy with my decision and the year flew by. Take me occupational test and start researching some of the suggested jobs for your personality. Make sure those are jobs that have a growth rate for the next decade. And look into grants for schooling. You might not act on it now but you might need that information in a few years. Best of luck to you young person. I love going to work now. I love paying for my car and my food, and my house and everything I buy for my wife and dog.

I think people need to realize that we live on Earth. A chaotic environment where suffering is the only guarantee. Everything on this planet is fighting every day to survive.

Society is an animal adaptation. A tool so we can hide from the cold, dark reality. Think about it. You don’t need to know how to grow food, start a fire, hunt, build or find shelter, fight or navigate the wild. Working a job/filling a role in society is the price you pay to not have to fight every day and learn every skill needed to survive.

I won’t lie and say society is perfect or fair, those with have been leveraging the system over those with-out for thousands of years. But I feel humans have forgotten a very important fact because society has become filled with distractions that allow us to escape from real life: You’re in a game of survival from the moment you are born. Some people wish they lived a life of excitement in some fictional world while missing the adventure survival game that is real life.

Figure out which employers are desperate in your area then start working your way to qualifying for employment. Investing in yourself has always been a concept, every year teenagers graduate high school, society has a never-ending supply of unskilled labor. You don’t need to go to university though, there are plenty of licenses, tickets and diplomas you can get that won’t put you in life long debt. Ie Truck drivers, firefighters, paramedics, Bus drivers, trades.

If you are looking for a well-paying job with low entry barriers, look at government jobs. I’m a paramedic in Canada. They were desperate for workers. All I had to have was my commercial driver’s license (already had it due to being a delivery driver) and my CPR-C ticket.

My EMR training and license costs were paid for by the government because they needed workers. I’m 23 and now have a union career with benefits. I have no problem learning emergency medicine and paying money so I don’t have to learn how to grow/hunt all my own food or build my own house.
