Seek a therapist and get yourself tested for ADHD.

You’re calling yourself a failure, but the reality is that you’re still holding a full-time job. If you were truly failing, you wouldn’t still have that job. The fact that you do means you’re meeting expectations and doing more right than you’re giving yourself credit for. What you’re feeling sounds a lot like imposter syndrome — something many capable and hardworking people experience. Feeling like you’re not good enough doesn’t make it true.
Skills aren’t fixed, and they’re not something only a few people are born with. Most job-related abilities can be learned through practice, courses, or new experiences, and many managers are open to helping employees grow when they show interest. Academic performance or memory struggles also don’t define someone’s future. There are countless successful people who struggled in college, dropped out, or weren’t strong academically but still built stable and meaningful careers. You’re working, functioning in daily life, and earning above minimum wage — those are real, practical signs that you are not failing, even if your thoughts make it feel that way.
It can feel like there’s nowhere to go, but growth usually doesn’t happen automatically. It starts with a decision and small, intentional steps. Setting a simple 12-month goal, researching the next realistic step in your field, learning one additional skill, or using free tools and resources can slowly change your direction. Progress is often quiet and gradual, and small milestones are usually what create the sense of success that feels missing right now. Your future is shaped much more by your actions and planning than by the negative thoughts you’re experiencing in the moment.
As for hobbies and interests, it’s completely normal for them to come and go. You don’t have to stay interested in something consistently for it to matter. Sometimes the missing piece is simply finding the right people or community who share that interest, which can make the experience feel more meaningful and lasting. Exploring different things and letting some of them go is a normal part of figuring out what truly fits you.
None of this points to failure. It points to someone who is working, trying to understand their direction, and still capable of growth. And that’s a very different story than the one your mind is telling you right now.
