28 yaşındayım, (faydalı) bir diplomam yok ve kariyer gidişatımı değiştirmeye çaresizce ihtiyaç duyuyorum. Düşünmem gereken bazı akıllı kariyerler nelerdir?

Başlıktan da anlaşılacağı gibi 28 yaşındayım. Tüm hayatımı müzik peşinde koşarak geçirdim. Bunu yapmaktan asla vazgeçmeyeceğim. Sevdiğim şey bu. Ancak bu işler devam ettikçe, muhtemelen ilk etapta hiçbir zaman işe yaramayacaktı. Ve sürekli perakende yönetimiyle dolu bir hayata kör bir şekilde adım attım. Her ne kadar bunun tamamen geçerli bir kariyer olduğunu düşünsem de bundan nefret ediyorum ve ayrılmak istiyorum.

Kız arkadaşım benden çok daha akıllı ve her şeyi doğru şekilde yaptı. Gerçekten harika bir şirkette çalışıyor, hibrit, çok iyi maaş alıyor ve hayatın beni de aynı şeyi aramaya motive ettiğini görüyorum. Yaptığı işi görünce, eğer şansım olsaydı bunları öğrenebileceğimi biliyorum ama söz etmeden "Üniversite mezunu" Özgeçmişimde, başvurularımı gönderdiğim anda yapay zeka tarafından drone saldırısına maruz kalıyor. Geçen yıl muhtemelen 200 işe başvurdum ve başka bir perakende işi olmadığı sürece hiç yanıt alamadım. Hatta çoğu bana geri dönmedi.
Şu anda zaman yönetimi konusunda işler zor. Tam zamanlı çalışmak, müzik grubu, ilişkiler, sosyal hayat ve genel hayat işleri arasında nefes alacak yer yokmuş gibi geliyor. Ama bir şeylerin verilmesi gerektiğini biliyorum ve değişmem gerekiyor bir şey eğer bir şeyin değişmesini istersem.
Ä°lk fikrim, teknoloji dünyasında bir tür sertifika bulmak, ister Google Sertifikası olsun, ister baÅŸka bir ÅŸey olsun ve oradan baÅŸlamaktı. Ancak Reddit’çiler çok cesaret kırıcıdır ve her iÅŸe özel Subreddit, sizin gerçekliÄŸinizi kontrol eden insanlarla doludur. Gerçek bir diplomam olsa bile, bir UX Tasarımcısı/IT/Grafik Tasarımcısı/Veri Analisti olmaya çalıştığım için bile iÅŸ piyasası yine de bana kızar ve bana kızardı.
Yani artık bilmiyorum. Gerçekçi olmak gerekirse, düşünce tarzımı tamamen değiştirip bir ticarete falan girebileceğimi biliyorum, ancak sadece tatillerde eve gitmeme ve düzenli izin günleri geçirmeme izin verebilecek bir hayat istiyorum. Hayatımdaki zamanımı dengele, yine de sevdiğim şeylere yerim olsun. Ki biliyorum ki çok şey istiyor ve hiçbir iş asla gerçekten mutlu olmayacak. Sadece biraz daha iyi bir şey istiyorum.

Is moving up the retail management ladder an option for you? Have you considered different settings of customer service such as hotel/airport? I’m also 28 and don’t have a career path figured out, ur not alone

The music business background is more useful than you might think. You understand how creative industries work, how to manage projects with no clear roadmap, how to hustle without a safety net.
The AI resume filter problem is real but it’s also solvable. The way around it isn’t more applications, it’s fewer and better targeted ones with a warm introduction attached. 200 cold applications shows that’s probably not the best channel. You try networking?
Retail management at 28 means you’ve been managing people, hitting targets, handling operations under pressure. That transfers directly into project coordination, operations roles, customer success at a SaaS company, or account management. None of those require a bachelor’s degree if you can get in front of the right person and make a conneciton
what does your girlfriend’s company do? Sometimes the shortest path is a referral into a company where someone already vouches for you, degree or not.
Not sure if it’s just me, but it sounds less like you’re stuck forever and more like you’re just overloaded right now. Trying to change careers while juggling everything else is a lot. I’ve heard that focusing on one direction and building something tangible there helps more than spreading effort everywhere. Still figuring it out myself, though.
Have you worked in the music industry at all?
Have you thought about event planning with the possibility of focusing on the music/theatre industry? It would allow you to use your degree on some level but also translate your management skills from retail
Have you considered state work? It depends on your state, but there are opportunities there for people with no bachelor’s degree.
I think here it sounds like a hierarchy of priorities. For example, for your next steps, how would you prioritize?
– Is it number one to have a full-time job that pays you well and then you can have regular days off?
– Are you prioritizing your personal and professional growth?
– Are you prioritizing figuring out what you are truly passionate about, even though maybe it’s not going to give you good money at the very beginning?
The first question that you need to ask yourself is: what are you prioritizing for this next chapter of change?
And once you have that power, let’s just assume that, if you prioritize finding a job that you just don’t hate and can give you regular days off, then research what roles are actively hiring right now and are not sunset. Definitely, with AI, there are a lot of roles and functions that are going to be sunsetted, and it doesn’t make sense for you to crack into those roles. There’s also a lot of new roles that are happening, so basically just do research and understand which industry and function has the best potential.
And if you prioritize something else other than just finding a job that would give you holidays, then that is another story. That will lead you into a very different outcome.
You never hear back from all those jobs because you don’t know someone inside the company to refer you.
Many companies rely on internal referals these days to screen out applicants.
If you don’t know anyone who will vouch for you for the job you’re applying for, you will have to network using LinkedIn. Connect with a recruiter or someone involved in hiring or someone doing the job you’re applying for. Ask them for a quick chat. If they agree, ask them basic questions and express your interest.
All that being said, electrical/water utilities can make solid careers and operator roles can pay well with a relatively low bar of entry and don’t tend to require a degree to get your foot in the door and gain that initial experience to move up.
