Paranın her şey olmadığını biliyorum.

I used to teach and went into nursing. It’s a pretty social job if you want it to be. I’m around other nurses, doctors, pa, environmental, nutrition staff, patients, family, etc the whole day. The days are 12 hours 3x a week, but once I hand off my patients to the night nurse, I don’t think about them. I don’t have to look at emails or do grading or take calls. You get 5 weeks of paid vacation every year and you can stretch it. My salary as a nurse was more than triple my teaching😆 I’d never go back. This prob isn’t the case in every state. I taught in Pittsburgh and worked as a nurse in NYC so the disparity is big.

You want to teach? English as a second language in China. There are programs that will set you up. Be aware and beware. Some of those programs are a disaster. Do your research carefully. A friend did it around 90s and came home with a Chinese wife. China is about as far away as you can get from the US.
There are similar programs for South America. My niece did it for a year around 2000 as well. She loved her time in South America.

Look at the Peace Corps as well. Teacher is something that they will value. You will be in some under developed nation. You’ll love it or hate it.

Real big money flows to those who fund, own, and commercialize things. One example of this is a young drug inventor, a big pharma company, and investors setting:

The young drug inventor had entered college at 5 years old and eventually graduated college and university and pursued a PhD in pharmacology. He eventually discovered a drug while working at a university at 21 years old. He patented it but he has to sell it because he can’t afford to take it to clinical trials and see if it’s okay for humans. The costs for trials are $1-2billion. He will get royalties of 0.05% to 0.1% if the drug is a success. He’s been working hard since a young age but he couldn’t afford the clinical trials. The majority of the money goes to those who own the patent and those who invested. Say the sales of the drug eventually become 20b$/year (rare blockbuster drug, only 2-4 come out every year), the inventor earns 10m to 20m a year until their royalties expire. The value of a company that makes $20b a year in sales is 4x-8x the sales value—so $80b to $160b. The owner and the investors make the majority of the profits since they have equity—usually also only until the patent expires and generics of the drug come out, making the value shrink to 1-2x. 10% equity of $160b is $16b.

It’s a lot of money. But most drugs that are top 100 make $2b-$10b a year in sales. Say you have big dreams and want a Bugatti Chiron in life in the next 5 years. That’s 4-5 years (after 10-15 years of waiting for your royalties profit to kick in if your drug is successful) of living on a $1m-$2m budget for the next 4-5 years, saving for a Bugatti Chrion that cost $3-$4m. Or you can save and invest in something, doesn’t have to be drugs, for example that has 100m valuation. You put in a 10% stake ($10m). If it goes up to $150b, you make $15b in equity—that’d take a lot of time if it’s in a drug and is more than rare.

Another similar example of this is Bill Gates. He didn’t invent anything. He basically struck rich by hitting the iron while it was hot and doing licensing deals that made him rich primarily by using a product that someone else made (he bought it off them), licensed it to a company that needed it, both the combination of Bill Gate’s product and the company that needed it created an industry standard product and every product that cloned the original company that needed Bill Gates’ product used Bill Gates’ product.

This is why people say to start a business. Even cleaning business that don’t require as technical specialty but also don’t have as much profit potential have owners that make 200k to 300k a year in some areas.

That’s also why if you win the lottery for $2b, you can take the best gamble by investing (doesn’t have to be a drug company but I’ll give an example of a drug company) in a drug company—way more worthwhile and exciting than gambling and can multiply your wealth multiple times. But that’s if you can wait that long for clinical trials to end, which are usually 10–15 years long and are a big gamble.

Getting the high number I mentioned—10m—to have the chance to make a lot of money is possible to only a few and is a rare opportunity if you’re investing in drugs. But investing is one of the things that you can do to increase your wealth—also only happens to a select few. I think the highest I’ve seen was someone investing 200k over a few years and then it went up to 1m. So it was a 5x profit.

Teachers can get paid significantly more than 45k depending on where you work.

If you actually enjoy teaching and would like to stay in the profession, you *could* find a gig at a suburban school (e.g.). Chances are the coffers are deep there, so your comp would reflect that reality.

How come I read that teachers get paid $120,000 per year and other times they get paid $45,000 per year? Which is it?
