   Everyone and their mom is going into the trades now, union chapters often have years long waitlists. Not to discourage you, but planning ahead that far in the future is futile especially with Trump damaging the US’s geopolitical position and his extremely unstable economic policy. If you have the grades for it maybe medicine is a more stable career due to inelastic demand, everyone needs a doctor.

   I am not one to scream “END STAGE CAPITALISM, WE’RE ALL GONNA CRASH!!!” – however, with the current economic environment I would discourage you from planning your next decade around car sales. Everything surrounding the power plant of car – from gas, electric, and fuel cells – to the cost of ownership, etc., I would consider that too risky.

   If you have a sales personality, why not insurance? And no, I’m not talking about life insurance or a door-to-door salesman. I am talking about the legitimate career of being an insurance agent or broker. Look into niche fields rather than Health, Standard Lines or Personal Lines. Be careful of the gimmicky types.
