>saying those are quick wins
Meh. Perhaps you win something, especially if titles are more engaging, but in general it won’t make a dent.
>but without providing any current rankings or projections of those wins
It’s literally impossible. Had they done that, they would be lying.
>Also they advised to start writing in an AEO way, ‘How to’, ‘Why this’.
This could help with some new posts, but if existing pages are ranking, just leave them alone. Otherwise, if they don’t rank, what do you have to lose?
Title tag is important it gets changed once in a while in Google meta descriptions mean nothing they’re changed about 70% of the time to match search intent
>Hi everyone, our SEO agency advised to make big changes on meta tags – meta titles and meta descriptions for top performing pages
Do you have a click-through rate issue? Measure at the page level, NOT the domain level. You would see this in Google Search Console.
>Also they advised to start writing in an AEO way, ‘How to’, ‘Why this’.
Not a bad idea for blog posts. Wouldn’t change already ranking content for this. AEO is just new marketing lingo for SEO. They are asking you to optimize for niche, not just intent. Intent would be “HVAC near me,” as they NEED service. Niche would be more than that, so optimizing for “How to repair my own HVAC unit” and try to win the click’s sale after the fact.
>I feel reluctant implementing these changes, especially making such changes on the best pages without testing it first on lower performing pages
Reasonable thought process. Have you considered a change in career? 😉
Nothing hear shouts incompetence. It is probably just their SOPs and they want to apply it to everyone. Unfortunately, SEO doesn’t really work this way. Check their portfolio of clients… How are they ranking?
Optimizing meta title and description May improve the CTR, but don’t have any effect on the rankings
Yeah, that feels risky.
Why start with the top pages without testing on the lower ones first
Meta changes can mess with CTR and rankings if not done right
Quick wins should still come with projections or a clear plan
AEO makes sense long-term, but rollout needs a strategy, not guesses
