33M, bir petrol platformunda (işleme tarafı) yardımcı olarak çalışıyor, akıl sağlığımı kaybetmeden buradan çıkmaya ihtiyacım var.
Merhaba arkadaşlar, 33 milyon yaşına yeni girdim, bu kariyerde yükselmek ve daha fazla para kazanmak için birçok fırsatla çalışmakla meşgul olmama rağmen, bu da benden çok şey götürdü. 2-3 hafta çalışma ve 3 gün izin, bir miktar para karşılığında günde 12 saatten fazla kölelik yapmak, bunu başarmak için çaresiz kalan biri için iyi bir fikirdir; ama şimdi artık o kadar da değil.
Neredeyse 2,3 yıldır otellerde yaşıyorum (çok seyahat ediyorum) ve izolasyon nedeniyle limitime ulaşıyorum. İşimin doğası gereği herhangi bir ilişkim yok ve özel hayatım da şu anda mevcut değil. Yalnızlık ve stresle başa çıkmak için dışarıda yemek yeme eğiliminde olduğum için artık hobimden (egzersiz yapmaktan) keyif bile alamıyorum.
Geçen yıl kuzenlerimden ikisi evlendi, bir düğünü iş nedeniyle kaçırdım; Resimlerine baktıkça anladım ki, eğer sürekli gidersem, onların sahip olduklarına asla sahip olamayacağım, onlardan daha iyi para kazansam bile, bu onların benim parayla asla elde edemeyeceğim mutluluk ve tatmine sahip oldukları gerçeğini değiştirmiyor.
Şu anki durumum itibariyle:
- Saatte 39,50 dolar artı 8 saat sonra fazla mesai kazanıyorum ve bunun yaklaşık 8-10 binini eve götürüyorum.
- 63 bin lira birikimim var
- Yüzde 1 faizle 7,5 bin araç kredisi
- Kredi limiti bakiyesi 8,6 bin
- Ev ipoteği/sigorta = ayda 2,5 bin
- Gerekli olduğunu düşündüğüm spor salonu dışında hiçbir şeye abonelik yok.
Bir günlük işten sonra evde olmamı sağlayacak ticaretlere girmeyi düşünüyordum, ailemin orada olması kafamı kötü bir yerden uzak tutuyor, aynı zamanda her zaman yalnız kalmamak için bir topluluk oluşturmaya çalışıyorum, bunu kabul etmek berbat ama para gerçekten durumumu düzeltmiyor.
Biliyorum, yapmam gereken tek şey vazgeçmek ve her şeyin yerli yerine oturmasına izin vermek ama finansal durum, neden öylece bırakamadığım ana endişemdi. Eğer sizin de fikirleriniz varsa çok memnun olurum, yoksa muhtemelen bir karar vereceğim ve her şeyin yoluna gireceğini umuyorum.

Do you understand oil and gas like engineering? I was turned down for a sales position in Texas because I had no previous experience in the industry (they wanted electrical utility experience).
There are Business Development jobs where you negotiate contracts / sales for utilities or engineering firms.
Man i did lease hand for like 3 months and couldnt take it.
I made it up to roughneck which was cool but holy fuck working on a rig is BRUTAL
Is that career like the most married of any in the US? I lived in the south and EVERY single rig worker I ever met was married with several kids. I think the women like that because they know they man is gone and they dont have to deal with him just get the big checks.
Your schedule sounds grueling. No wonder you’re worn out.
You have enough to live on while going to a community college and earning a 2-year associates degree in a technical field. Lots of local community colleges offer this. Or, if you don’t want spend your savings, then work part time while going to school. [Here is an example of one such program](https://www.fvtc.edu/programs/engineering-technology). Schools like this are usually plugged into local industry, and their graduates are easily able to find jobs with local firms. In particular I recommend automation technology or the electrical fields. Industry is undergoing a wave of automation, and somebody has to help build and service that equipment. There are other fields you could consider, too. Airplane mechanic. NDT (non-destructive testing) technician. Logistics. Project management. Accounting.
You have a house you could live in while you do all this. Hopefully there’s a solid community college nearby, and plenty of manufacturing firms in the area. Or a major airport (If you want to go into airplane mechanic field. My friend’s husband, now retired, still moonlights as an airline mechanic because they can’t find enough of them, I guess.)
Many would love to trade place with you.
Become a power engineer, you don’t need engineer education for that.
Forgive me for im not in the best position to give you advice on how to get out of the work you’re currently in. Would it be okay to ask how one the same age as yourself can get into this line of work? Ive wanted to get into the oilfield/rig work for maybe a year or two now but being located in Ohio has very little opportunity. Id like to spend 5-10 years maybe more if things work themselves out to save/invest and retire my parents. If you have the time dm please and thanks!
If you want to get into trades – maybe start by talking with everyone you know who’s working in a trade that appeals to you, and then check out the unions in your area. See if you qualify for an apprenticeship, and keep doing what you’re doing (for the financial security) until you’re accepted into a program and you’re ready to start.
