İki yıl önce devlet inşaatlarında üçüncü taraf mal sahibi-temsilci müfettişi olarak saat başına 45 dolar kazanan bir işim vardı ve işler rahatsız edici değildi. İşler hala sıkışık gibi görünüyordu (işin gerektirdiği pahalı şehir, daha yeni araba ödemeleri) ama yine de işten çıkarılmadan önce 20 bin dolar tasarruf etmeyi başarmıştık (DOGE öncesi kesintiler). Artık yaptığım iş başvurularına insani bir yanıt bile alamıyorum; Ülke çapında ilgili her işe başvurmayı denedim ve görünüşe göre 6 yıllık deneyimim hiçbir şey ifade etmiyor. Saati 24 dolardan bir ticari işe girdim. Bunun geçici olacağını düşünüyorum ama şu anda bir karavan parkında yaşıyoruz, vücudumu mahveden bir işte çalışıyorum (42, ticarete başlamanın yaşı değil), gidiş-dönüş 1,5 saat, zamanım ve enerjim tükeniyor. Ben günde 11 saat boyunca evde olmadığımda ergenlik çağındaki çocuğuma bakmak için evde kalan kronik hasta (hiçbir engeli olmayan) yetişkin bir çocuğum var. Mütevazı bir Noel geçirdik, ancak artık tasarruflarımız tamamen tükendiğine ve önümüzdeki aylar için bütçemiz giderek açık verdiğine göre, toplumsal beklenti sadece ‘başka bir iş bulmak’ gibi görünüyor, hafta sonları çalışacağım ek bir iş falan mı? Haftanın ardından toparlanmam gereken değerli az zamanı mı tüketiyorum? Saatte 15$ mı? Taco Bell’de mi çalışıyorsunuz?
Umutsuzluğum çok büyük ve her Pazar gecesi işe geri dönmenin stresi beni fiziksel olarak hasta ediyor.

I’m really sorry you’re in this spot, it’s brutal when the ladder you were climbing just disappears. Also, reach out directly to local GCs and firms you used to interact with, even if they aren’t posting, sometimes the backdoor gets you a call when the front door is jammed.
How old is the teenage child? How old is the adult child?
Apply to jobs that pay more than $24/hr or are closer to you. The 1.5h each way is a big issue and if you can get the same pay where you live now it’ll make everything feel easier.

since you do have QC/QA experience, have you looked into becoming a home inspector?
Same. Went from $90k a year to being offered $3.35 an hour to waitress. 20 years experience, awards and now…just crickets
No advice at the moment just letting you know you’re not alone. Lots of experience here but hiring has been a nightmare. Don’t loose hope. We made it out of 2008 we’ll make it out of this.
