İnsanlar çalışma zorunluluğuyla nasıl başa çıkıyor?

Hayatımın çoğunu nefret ettiğim anlamsız bir iş için harcamak zorunda olma fikri kafama kurşun sıkma isteği uyandırıyor. İnsanlar bununla nasıl başa çıkıyor?

I resonate completely. Most of the time I’m able to maintain a more positive perspective but sometimes when you really just look at the life you’re expected to live these days…. it’s like what is the point?

If I’m supposed to spend the majority of my time on this planet working especially in this ridiculous state of the world… and still not be able to live a life that’s aligned with myself truly…. Cost of living rises but salaries don’t… no matter how hard you keep trying, your goals stay out of reach, I too would rather opt out entirely.

Not every job is meaningless. I used to work at an animal shelter. Saving animals is not meaningless. You gotta stop being jaded

I mean… what other option do you have? You can be homeless on the streets for free but you still would have to hustle to get food.

The honest answer? I’m a coward and don’t believe in an after life.

Yea I get existential dread about that constantly. Luckily I’ve made a little money, and going to try to go rogue for abit and make just enough to live and not work for some mega corp. If it doesn’t work then….. I have the same plan as you lol

What if you got a job you don’t hate? I’ve had a bunch of jobs and most of them were totally fine.

Honestly i blame social media for making people think only losers work 9-5 and everybody else is on some endless holiday in exotic locations.

Don’t get me wrong, i do think there is wealth inequality and there could be better work-life balance for most people. But some amount of work is necessary, you can’t be a burden on the rest of the society

Not everyone works a meaningless job, and even then it’s not the only thing that defines me.

I thought your user name was “scuba” and thought “this guy could make good money teaching scuba lessons and leading diving tours” but I have no idea what a scubub8 is.

But seriously is there anything that you like doing that could be monetized?

Would you say that if you had to hunt or farm your food every day?

It’s one of these “reddit isn’t real life” things to say that most people hate their jobs. So I’d say the answer to you is people generally get a job they don’t hate. That means different things to different people so maybe for you it’s about finding something with meaning, even if it doesn’t pay well. Idk.

Make art or write on the side, creativity is a good outlet for this sense of perpetual doom that comes from a 40 hour work week. And maybe your art will sell for money.

The same way they have since humans existed, except today, we have far more pleasantries and freedoms than in the past.

Everything we do is meaningless if you think about it, doesn’t matter who you are or how much you get paid. All you can control (to a degree) is how you feel about it.

You try to find ways to make your job less meaningless. If its ultimate point adds little to no value in the world (my case), you find the parts of the job you enjoy more than others, even if only by degrees, and try to do well at those. If the actual work is onerous, then you frame it in the understanding of who might benefit from your work and why.

Absolutely. OP, escape the rat race. One way is joining the Air Force, going to tons of med/psych appointments, then applying for VA disability. 100% means a free $3800 a month for the rest of your life with no income cap. You can then simply submit all your VA paperwork to get $1600/mo SSDI.

Congratulations, you’re now making $5400 a month for free. You’re now retired at age 22. You can now enjoy your life to the fullest. You can follow your dreams, pursue your passion, or just savor and cherish your freedom. You can also work a part time social job, as long as it’s less than $1600 a month.

Sadly, I learned this method much too late, but if I ever had a son, I’d absolutely share this method with him. Imagine being retired at age 22 making $65k a year for free. It’s by far the best way to escape the rat race in my opinion.

My job has fun people that I like and they feed us. I don’t hate what I do, I like it more than anything else I’ve done. So I get a free meal or two for the day, have an excuse to get out of the house and leave my problems at home for a while. Every job has bad days. Finding a job that is just interesting enough and stimulating enough to not want to cry every day you go in is great.

THere’s no concrete Law of Physics that says you have to spend your entire life “working a meaningless job”. Plenty of jobs out there that have quality substance or contribute good things to society.
