Emekli olmak üzereyim.
Şu anda 37 yaşındayım ve 38 yaşına girmek üzereyim ve bir yıl içinde askerden emekli olacağım. Emekli olduktan sonra ayda yaklaşık 7 bin dolar kazanmam gerekiyor ama 20 yıldır bu işi yapıyorum ve bir yetişkin olarak ne yapmak istediğime dair hiçbir fikrim yok. Üniversite yok çünkü hiçbir zaman istediğim yönü bildiğimi hissetmedim. Herkes yılda 80-100 bin kazanmak için ne yapıyor?

Then who cares what ‘everyone’s doing to make x’ Do what you want to do that you enjoy, you already have a very comfortable monthly salary if your not a financial moron.
how are you making 7k a month?
Get yourself into a comfortable, affordable place, find a business incubator near you and invest in somebody with a solid work ethic and a solid business idea/plan. You’re getting $7k/mo from the federal government with tons of benefits. You don’t need to stress. Get yourself a part time job if you want but you can absolutely survive well as a single man on much less than $7k/mo.
Do nothing move to Cambodia and live like a king on 7k
Start a small security business over there 300$ for a 1 year Visa !!
1st off…Check your math. Your Pension is not $7k/month…that checks in at $84,000 for the year. A General with 30 years might get that much.
What your much lower pension gets you is comfort. You dont need a top tier job, you’ll get one based on your skill set but you dont need it.
The Pension, and the Tricare that comes with it, allows you to be much more casual and discerning in your job search. Finding a 40-50k job puts you solidly in the middle class…whether your spouse works or not.
You got this…but do check your math.
Probably would be the worst job in the world aside from the one way it can benefit you.. did you ever consider the Gospel?

hop into selling insurance perhaps, lot of skewed opinions of it online because it is a tough business but its a tough business because that is what it is, you are starting a business. Being a veteran utilizing veteran targeted advertising is a gold mine, once you drop that “from one veteran to another” you have instant trust and credibility – have seen numerous vets come out of the military hop into insurance and make $150-$200k from the office in their apartment.
You do whatever you did in the military, just in a different role now. Despite the fact that government workers aren’t getting paid, in the defense industry a lot of veterans become aircraft Service Reps, do training, or do some kind of acquisition. There’s tons of jobs for retired Army folks down in Huntsville and I’m sure there’s a lot elsewhere too depending on the branch or specialization.
Do you have any contacts that have retired in the past 3-5 years you can reach out to for a job? I’d start there. A lot of guys in our company or working for the Government all know each other from serving together 30 years ago.

Honestly i would chill out for a couple of months first. Get used to normal life again.
Cook, clean, watch netflix, play video games, maybe go online and see what local universities are offering, see what different jobs and programs are out there.
Maybe you want to do something as simple as a 2 year paralegal course making 60-70k a year or maybe you want to be an engineer and do a 4 year bachelors.
Maybe you just want to be a tree surgeon or electrician.
All based on you my man.
Just chill for a while and find your feet first. Take in that free air, go for walks and be in nature
