İyi maaşlı bir iş için yeterince zeki olmadığımı hissediyorum
Hayatım boyunca perakendede çalıştım, benden çok daha zeki bir arkadaşımla konuşuyordum, maaşını 5 yılda ikiye katlamış ve nasıl daha fazla kazanabileceğimi anlatıyordu. Ona yapamayacağımı, yeni beceriler öğrenmekte zorlandığımı, dürüst olmak gerekirse çoğu şeyi zor bulduğumu söyledim.
Sanki asgari ücretli bir işte çalışıyorum ve bazen bunu zor buluyorum. Şu anda yaptığımdan daha iyisini yapamayacağımı meşru olarak hissediyorum. Kitap okudum, araştırma yaptım ama hiçbir zaman uygun bir kariyer bulamadım.
Daha iyi bir iş veya kariyer elde etmenin bir yolunu bulan başkaları var mı?

Do you know how many stupid people work important jobs? A lot. Take the president for an example. The difference between you and the ones in charge is that they go for it, if you believe you aren’t smart enough for a better job than nothing is going to change. You are in control of your own life, go after what you want
lot of jobs can be practical and technical and don’t require u to learn any super special skills or math/science concepts. and honestly a lot of jobs provide you with paid training to learn how to do the job. don’t keep telling yourself you can’t do it’s just go for it and try your best. trust me, i come by TOO MUCH incompetent people who just don’t give a shit to learn. you have experience and seem dedicated so you should apply for jobs and see what you can get to build up ur experience and gain knowledge on what you enjoy and don’t enjoy doing
I did the trades for a while and made ok money, but honestly I was exposed to a lot of harmful chemicals, dangerous situations constantly. You have to decide if the risk is worth it. A lot of small contractors do not pay attention to OSHA
What ARE you good at? What are your passions in life and business?
Everything can be taught, they won’t magically hand it to you unless you are from a privileged family or you know someone who knows someone that can put you ahead of things. Well paid jobs comes with years of experience moving from a minimum wage job to a better one while furthering your education to get a higher degree, do some certifications and more that will give you the advantage to climb the ladder 🪜.
Maybe you are looking at all of the wrong fields of study, could it be possible that your strengths and skills are suitable for a different field than the one’s that you feel like you aren’t competent in learning?
Outside of math physics teachers, and a handful of different tech jobs, average intelligence is good enough to do just about anything. I doubt many CEOs are much above average intelligence, most are just low on empathy and high on arrogance.
I can kinda relate to this. It’s not that you aren’t smart in some way, we all have our areas of natural intelligence. It’s just that you may not be as naturally savvy in the ways that it takes to get ahead in our current version of society.
For me it took a lot of trial and error to figure out what exactly it was that I was meant to do. Be open minded and remember that you do have intelligence and useful skills. They just may not be in the areas that your friends have theirs.
That’s a tough spot to be in. The research on IQ is always conentious, but there is clearly a relationship between intelligence and career success. Of course, there will be outliers in all directions, but the trend seems fairly strong.
My advice would be to look at industries where intelligence isn’t critical; these are usually things that have low levels of abstraction with low variance. Things like the physical world, manufacturing etc.
I would use ChatGPT or something similar to figure this out.
