   A master’s only makes sense if it’s tied to a specific career path you want. If you’re not sure yet, try internships, projects, or certifications first. Imo, these are cheaper ways to test direction before committing 2+ years and big tuition.

   If your reason is only to make your resume look better then don’t. Most recruters don’t actually care about your education as long as it’s some kind of higher education, and even before that comes having skills relevant to the position you’re applying for. Only do it if you actually have a topic for your masters thesis that you’re genuinely interested in researching. Alternatively you could leverage your student status to try to land a job/internship if it can helps you (it does in my country as students generally cost potential employer less), but remember that actually studying will take some of your time and energy that you could’ve used to look for work/polish your skills.

   *Following is a guideline that helps you put your career path into perspective and design it as you see fit for yourself*

   What would you like to be when you grow up – is a common question elders been asking for generations of 15+ yr old teens

   Sadly Indian Education and family/home nurturing does not put enough efforts in:

   1 Sklls – Life Skills, Self Help Skills Self develoment skills- generally taught starting age 10 or so

   2. Communication conversational exchange at and with people at all levels of society starting from extended family & community

   3. Meet with professionals (about 6 to 8) and visit their place of work inn line with what youth would want to do as their profession ( summer of 10th, 11th, 12th) Even now…for university as well…

   This helps youth to select subjects in high school + related professional skills (age conducive) and carry forwrd in Univ and beyond as a first stage of career path starting in hgh school and complete it by second year of univ

   4. Degree is multidimentional. Certifies that youth has acquired the knowledge in the subject/course,”figuring out what to do”

   5. Intelligence is the tool used to put that knowledge to practical use “figuring out how to do it”

   6. Competence and Confidence are much needed and are dependant on ones personality. To present oneself to prospective employer in articulating all of the abve to show one is fully qualified to perform

   7. Skills – Tools required to implement effectively efficiently productively to attain high quality and provide quantity to the employer toward profitability using competence snd confidence age conducive and in line with the professionalism

   8. Personality is much needed to put all the above together and attain level of professionalism required to compete in this modern economy

   Don’t do it. I was laid off 2024, finished my masters (for free), graduated 2025 and now no one will hire me because I seem overqualified. Can’t even remove it because it’ll make the gap look bigger than it is.
