Very little., This is in the Publisher Myth space- its like “this could really help Google figure out stuff” – its just not the way things work.

Its not really.
Google doesnt work like a library. Its called PageRank for a reason (well, 2 reasons) – it works at a page level. Google isn’t trying to “understand” you or your site or your tags. It figures out what your page is targeting and then it checks to see how much external validation you have, colloquially known as “authority” and that tells Google where it should rank you.
Dan Davies from the WP Odyssey skool group wrote a detailed blog on WordPress Tags SEO recently. Having now understood Tags better, that they are internal constructs of WordPress that can be utilized like Categories, I will be focusing on ranking them better than ever.
Say your tag is “blue widgets”, you can have a tag page dedicated to blue widgets. And rank that bad boy.
