No manual actions in GSC, nothing else happened? I am guessing the timing of deindexing with the sitemap submission was a coincidence.
One thing I can certainly say is the SE’s have been a lot harder on affiliate sites lately, although I would have predicted this deindexing should have happened 2 years ago, going by that logic.
The only other factor I can guess is that authority has recently been reassessed. Do you have spam links or no links pointing at this site? In either case, maybe the free ride is over and you need more quality backlinks to push this up.
