There’s no chanigng URLs. There’s creating new pages and unpublishing or 301’ing older pages but there’s no ‘changing”
Dropping an extension *should* be ok and should actually increase relevancy scores – so that should be good.
What would be really bad would be changing “my_fuil_name” to “nickname”
Can you change it in stages?
What I recommend is that you look at what pages get what traffic – if they’re all equal or if like many sites – 20% o fhte pages get 80% of the traffic – those are the ones you have to watch
