OF course – you need to figure out in your interview which way your prospects lean. If they’re content SEO its going to be about structure, having written contnet that “Google loved” in the past. Content SEOs are the least data driven of SEOs – so its easy to fluff. They’ll be impressed by how you got more numbers (even though keyword patterns are fixed and you can’t actually increase them). Use keywords like converting content, brand reinforcement, positioning, customer journey, funnel positions (top, middle and bottom), how much you hate AI content (aka AI Slop), keyword research, content calendar,
Technical SEOs – this will be a Tech snobbery PoV – that SEO is ruled by a innate understanding of how Google adores good code and architecture. The less technical, the less SEO you are. Talk about Schema, Chromium, Spiders, good hosting, uptime, CWVs, style guide. SEO is largely a “bag of tricks” and its an “inside secret” – so wink, wink/nudge, nudge you won’t leak the game and everyone is a winner. KPI: Traffic.
