Hey hepsi.

SEO will evolve. Stick with it. Always keep learning to do the hard stuff nobody wants to do (or knows how to do).
Theres plenty of opportunities for SEO work, and there will continue to be as long as you evolve with it. Focus on local seo as well because there will always be a need for that. What it comes down to is if you or your company can sell yourself to clients and improve results enough to keep them.
Unemployment rate for programming is 6%
Its definitely not bleak.
Change = opportunity.
There tiers to this.
CS Programing is full of jobs and it’s still one of the highest paying career options you can have by far except maybe finance. In all countries everywhere. But they want real people doing actual useful stuff. They don’t want incompetent vibe coders and leeches that sit around meetings all day doing nothing. They want actual engineers, actual programmers that make useful code for projects.
Are you going to find a good job being a random online “full stack” programmer stapling together WordPress websites with cheapo templates and plugins? With subpar HTLM+CSS+PHP skills that works on a few custom websites? No. That era has ended, that programmer type is gone.
The problem with SEO is, it was and is full of people that do literally nothing. Generating questionable returns on their investments and working with black boxes they do not understand. It’s incredibly prone to fads and methodologies that dreamed up by celebrities instead of having actual results like say programing. Programing is building legoblocks according to a manual to assemble a castle. SEO is getting some legoblocks, no manual and expecting to build a castle. Some will actually manage to do it. But most won’t.
Like let me illustrate, there always going to be a need for people in local communities that focus on services to be found, SEO Is basically advanced marketing. So is your local company going to need SEO services to rank better on social media, search engines and so on? Yes.
Will high value companies need competent SEO people to out compete the competition, yes?
Will there be a need for a guy to look at Ahrefs keywords for an affiliate site to better rank it’s review articles? No.
Will there be a need for a guy to make briefs and blueprints to craft keywords depends articles for a website that is only a blog about cats? No.
The majority of current SEO jobs are dead. No more milking ads and affiliates with fake review websites, no more stupid blogs about stupid topics assembled by SEOs that had the most searches and endless incompetent 3rd world writers writing out 2~10k articles about topics they frankly have 5% expertise in.
No more Pinterest/Facebook/Social Media baits and whatnot…
AI has killed or is in the process of killing most of that.
No job is going away unless you are super slow and unmotivated
Your experience, and your expertise will always be needed. So the question is, what do you bring to the table?
Work hard, opportunities are many out there. Also I do think once all the tariffs and global economy settles, job market will improve. Not an economic expert but multiple macro economic factors are against you right now.
I am seeing some agencies start to convert their SEO divisions to include GEO (generative engine optimization).
Google is still the largest way people search world wide in 2024. Google is smart and continues to invest in different ways to improve the search experience – including AI Mode (test) and AI Overviews. So that’s a long winded way of saying SEO probably isn’t going away but the way it’s approached is likely to change.
GEO is likely the end state but for now it’s going to be a blend.

So there are Many people thinking like you, so someone rightly said above ,change =opportunity . People will go and come
SEO will evolve and has for a long time especially with so many platforms that you can optimize on. Even with AI/LLM search you’ll still be fine as long as you keep learning
People still do SEO? Thought Google won and now it’s just about putting out good content and the SEO basics.
SEO isn’t dying, it’s just shifting. If you keep up with how people search (AI, social, site search), you’ll stay valuable. The folks who adapt, not automate, stick around longest.
