I put them near the end of my title tag sometimes and sometimes at the end of my H1 tag. I know at least one person who disagrees with me.
It’s best practice to put a variation of the keyword you want to rank for in the H1, but won’t have any affect on your rankings.

Where you want your keywords are in the anchor texts of your backlinks.
Choose a H1 that your mom (metaphor) can understand.
