Semrush = all-around SEO tool. Screaming Frog = pure technical power.

There have been issues with third-party reporting tools like Ahref and SEM Rush since the last Google API update. Their data is a little unreliable.
ScreamingFrog however is solid. I use that shit every week, and I don’t even do SEO as a full-time job.
Frog, it’s not even close.
SF is technically much better and more customisable, but there is a learning curve.
SEMrush is good if you need more “ready-made” visual reports, but it has some flaws and false flags. It’s also great for keyword and competitor research which you don’t get in SF/
Depends on your situation.
Screaming Frog is $200 a year, SEMRUSH is $250 a month.
I have been working with SiteChecker lately and I am very impressed with their reports. Worth a look.
even just using the free Screaming Frog with all its limitations can be very helpful. depends on what you are trying to do. we recently did the free trial of SE Ranking. all these tools seem to be good at some things and lacking in others.
They’re not apples to apples. Screaming frog is for on demand site crawls / tech only. SEMrush is for competitor data and ongoing performance tracking.. personally, I use ahrefs for the performance tracking, and GSC for the tech…. I’ve used screaming frog and it seems very powerful, but probably more than most need for the tech side. Plus its UX is horrible.. I view Screaming Frog as a supplemental tool for the real tech nerds. It won’t replace a tool like ahrefs or semrush. It has no competitor or performance data, it just crawls sites and outputs an ishload of raw messy data. You gotta really know what you’re doing to organize / understand the data then do something about it.
Screaming Frog is a non negotiable for me. Learn how to use it and its a Swiss army knife
