I’ve found it helpful to think of trust and authority as two different gates Google evaluates.
**Trust** is about whether Google feels safe indexing and showing your site at all — things like clean history, consistent crawling/indexing, no spam signals, solid technical setup, and predictable behavior over time. If pages are crawled but not indexed, that often points to a trust issue rather than authority.
**Authority** comes later and is more query-specific — links, topical depth, brand mentions, and how well your site competes against others in that space. Authority can help you rank *higher*, but it usually can’t compensate if trust isn’t there yet.
In practice, newer or smaller sites often need to earn trust first (indexing stability, content consistency) before authority signals really start moving the needle.

You gain some trust by being an authority. If you don’t have evidence to show that it’s hard to get respect from Google. I had a website that was closest linked to my business entity that got deindexed.
I abandoned ship and focused where I had a proof of being a real entity.
I lost money on that, but overall I Iike the new system.
Seems like many still get a 6 month honeymoon period to prove themselves, but you really need to do it and it’s not easy.
>”If google indexes you page not, crawled but not indexed, then it is a sign of not trust, authority will not help you here”
This is someone’s subjective opinion and its based on Google saying we dont index content we dont trust. Trust in this sense is a proxy for “authority”
Authority in Google SEO land means, specifically – 3rd party validation.
When people talk about SEO in general terms, even if they think they’re different, trust (esp trust signals) and authority are the same.
Some people invent signals – like social signals, trust signals etc – that have no basis in reality
There are “trust” variables in Googles systems but they’re not surfaced like “authority”
Authority however is very specific and the reaons you are at “Crawled, not Indexed” is a lack of authority.
Some gatekeepers and demand genners will tell you “write good content” but this obviously disingenuous, fake and frankly, Bullsh!tty…
What you need is backlinks or internal links from pages with clicks. If you have a page with clicks from Google, that page has Authority (and by virtue, trust)
Thats all. I answer this question 5-7 times a day – been 2 years, nobody’s ever come back to say it didn’t work
>I tought this is the same?
>How do I gain authority and how trust?
>How diffrence they from each other?
For all intents and purposes, they are the same in SEO. There are so many fabrications and fairy tales.
Here is an abstract way of thinking of it.
A new teacher has trust, because they work in a school, have teaching credentials, etc…
A tenured professor has authority, because they have experience and breadth of knowledge, etc…
So trust… is the site safe and legit… Authority… how much of expert is the site.
