Without knowing any more – I wonder if either you lost topical authority – this would have started in December 2024 with the GCU which undid like 250m visits to Linkedin and Hubspot,…. and then with AIO – lsoing traffic = a loss in authority. This would be a slow house-of-cards type fall – where each week you have a step change, then pages linking to each other each fall bringing down the next level
Or if Google de-valued any of the backlinks you need to be an authority in the news – the most recent spam update jsut finished 3 weeks ago… or thereabouts?
I had posted the same issue back in july. The advice that was given was dont do anything and wait for everything to settle down from the June Core update and now the September spam update.
Our news articles would not show past pages 3 to 5. Even brand new articles wouldn’t show in top stories. Even though we ranked on top of web search.
We didn’t change anything. We just kept posting how we always did, and on August 24th, everything fixed itself. We again appear in Gnews and Top Stories. In fact, our website had gained traction after it fixed itself.
This is just what we did. This does not mean others will find the same thing happening to them. I keep an eye on other sites doing the same niche news, and 3 of them are still having the same issue. Not appearing in Top stories or past page 3 in Gnews.
