The way I look at it is if a user requires Google Reviews to make their decision, and you have good reviews, why not just slap them on the site tastefully? You’re effectively reducing extra steps the user might take, providing them a positive user experience by showing them info they need right where they already are rather than making them seek it out, then come back to you when they could get lost anywhere in between. Better to show them the reviews on your site than let them leave and hope they come back.
I have caught myself several times skipping content, looking only for reviews, and trying to gauge if they were fake or real.
I would say good reviews are paramount.
Google built an entire business, making billions, around this simple principle.
If I want a plumber I could not care less what his website looks like, I just want to see if he is not dodgy.
It can help with EEAT principle, not 100% sure wrt trust building because anyone can put on a widget like that and reviews are by either in-house team members or mostly fake. Reviews from G2, Clutch, Goodfirms, etc definitely build trust.
