Not a idiot bruh, I think you just need a little break, try going somewhere or have a little vacation trip. That will help

Also no offence, but you are living my dream life and finding another job in this economy is pretty though, so I would say, on weekends go on a trip, even if it solo.

From my life experience, I can only give you this tips.

    Enjoy bro 👍

Your current job is fully remote and they wont let you relocate? Why?

You’re not an idiot, but definitely don’t quit your job before having a replacement lined up in this job market.

I would be very direct with your job about what you want (relocation). I would also consider covertly relocating before quitting. I know several people who have done that but ultimately that’s a highly individual (and potentially risky) decision

If you’re 28 and have decent savings/no dependents and can grind, I’d say don’t be afraid to shake things up. Living in a larger city can be lifechanging – both in terms of community and long term career. But if possible I’d try to relocate with the remote job

Ive relocated with a job and I’ve quit jobs to relocate. Both have pros and cons. In general though – taking action is almost always better than inaction

This may sound harsh but it sounds like you just don’t do anything. Denver has a ton of opportunity, beautiful nature nearby, good airport, even a younger average age than Chicago. Plan a few weekend trips. Go visit a new coffee shop or restaurant, take a class, go to a small indie concert. I would not move to Chicago without a job lined up. It sounds like a case of “everywhere you go, there you are”. If you’re not taking advantage of opportunities in Denver, there’s no guarantee you’ll take advantage of opportunities in Chicago. Start a journal, see a therapist, browse jobs in Chicago!

What would constitute a “strong business case” for your company? Your salary would go far in Chicago, I just don’t think it sounds like Chicago will solve your problems. What’s meant to be will be! Life doesn’t have to be monotonous but it takes a lil effort to figure out what we like to do in a society that just wants us to work and consume!

Very curious, what do you do for work?

But also, I think def stay and explore your area more. Consider how difficult the job market is right now. Unless you’re sure you can land something good in Chicago or line it up before moving.

Welcome to the work force. Sounds like you have it better than most. This would be the timeline to complain about exorbitant amounts of money based around an “but I don’t wanna” attitude. But you do you OP, just remember nothing lasts forever.

Personally, I would try doing something where you are at first. Volunteer, join a bowling league, do something in a group setting.

Something else to try: Friday at 5p when you’ve clocked out, show up at the airport with a packed bag and take the cheapest flight out to anywhere in the country. You’ll have wild stories and great memories from it. And who knows, maybe you’ll meet fellow travelers that are doing the same

You have it really, really good. I would encourage you to look outside of your work in a different way. What kind of community are you looking for? The ‘dating scene’ is pretty fucked everywhere since people are a lot more comfortable finding a profile pic online than going out and meeting people. Idk, I feel like you may just end up with the same problems in a new place and be unable to replace your insanely cushy job. How long have you lived in Denver? When’s the last time you took a real vacation?
