FYI: If you are a low income person living in the U.S who is currently 23 yo, you can apply for FAFSA for your next academic year when you will be 24 (no need to put your parents income information) because many colleges and universities offer free tuition for up to 6 years for low to middle income individuals to get their associate and bachelor’s degrees!

If you think that ONLY 4 years is too long to get a degree, then you are not ready to get a high paying job. There are people who spent 10-16 years of studying to get their doctorate degrees while working in through their entire degrees so to no longer go around from one minimum wage job to the next after completing their education.

Sadly, you won’t find any high paying job with NO degree except those what are hard on your body like many trades or unless you go to the military. Go to college for your own sake.

Have you considered hiring a career counselor or mental health therapist?

I am suspecting there is much more to the story here. $4K can easily get you an entire year at a large number of community colleges. Then you bust your ass in school and apply for financial aid/scholarships at a state school.

Unfortunately, unless you get lucky or born into wealth (and parents willing to splurge on you), it will take several years to get to a high paying job. You are not finding a high paying job with no college degree within the first few years. Even in the trades, you will not start out close to that amount.

On another note, a $4,000 purchase is a very very large purchase, even for someone who makes $100K a year. Glad you do not have any consumer debt, but look into personal finance. The best thing you can do for yourself right now is save, save, save.

In the US, a 5090 can be had for half that amount. I make five times what you make. I would never buy a 5090. Your priorities are all out of whack.

Maybe you could afford college if you didn’t spend all your money on extraneous expenses…

Your spending is really wrong. There is no way you need a 5090, the best consumer GPU on the market currently. I get you want to treat yourself, but unless you’re playing tarkov at native 4k at 144fps you could save thousands of dollars and get a 5070ti or RX 9070, or a used top tier GPU from the last generation.

Don’t let reddit or whoever fool you. You don’t need a 5090 to enjoy PC gaming. Live within your means dude.

Focus on building skills that can lead to higher-paying roles, like certifications in tech, design, or trades. a site like Meterwork can help you find listings that aren’t always on LinkedIn or Indeed, which will give you a better chance at unique opportunities. it’ll take time but anything worth it usually does, so just pick something and keep at it and you’ll get there

Figure out a way to do something rare and valuable. That generally means getting training, but there are ways to do self training like learning coding and learning sales skills. There’s also always the option of joining the military and seeing the world/getting a degree free through them.

FAFSA, Pell Grant, and the $4,000 already saved would literally cover all of two years of community college. Alternatively, you could keep the $4,000 and have it covered by FAFSA for now.

In four years, you can either still be working a minimum-wage job or have a degree.

If you want my honest opinion, as someone who also allowed video games to stunt their career somewhat, the best thing you can do at your age is ditch them entirely.  Nobody who is as broke as you needs a 5090.  There is not a single game on the market right now that won’t run perfectly fine on a much cheaper card.  Either buckle down now or get used to the feeling of being poor with fleeting moments of escape as you play.  But I wouldn’t have listened to this advice anyway.
