You write VERY well. Some people are not numbers people, myself included. You will find your way.
If you want to truly learn, enroll at a community college as a non matriculated student and take math classes that are lower than Math 100. You will learn elementary algebra and other math skills.
TSA is hiring. No math.
Have you been diagnosed with dyscalculia? I’m asking because it may be helpful – in your employment searches, in finding support, and accepting yourself – to know that you aren’t stupid and you do have a disability.
bro I have kinda the same thing, look into dyscalculia if you haven’t already.
it’s like dyslexia with numbers and it’s a real learning disability, people just aren’t educated about it.
when it comes to jobs and school, you can get accommodations just like a dyslexic person would. it’s expensive to get testing done but if you take it to a school they’re required to help you, and if you want to you can use accommodations on jobs like calculators or visual aids. it seems like you’d be good with lit/english and that’s going to help you stretch your options.
grew up my whole life thinking I was dumb too but it’s not true, just wired a little different.
you’d be surprised how many people have it once you talk about it with them.
for work and school, focus on things like caregiving, childcare, trade work like HVAC, construction. blue collar jobs are where it’s at.
also things like social services and community health if you go to school.
I know you said you’ve had trouble with the trades in the past but going into it with a diagnosis and accommodations can give you a fair shot.

Math takes time it’s all about practice. Do problems every day. It’s not intelligence. Let me tell you something, being good at math does not make you intelligent. It means that person practiced and practiced to reach a certain level. You got this. Keep practicing and enroll in a math class.
The “dumbest people on earth” aren’t able to do the things that you have done. Have you been diagnosed with dyslexia, or any other conditions? When you were in school, did you use the school’s resources to try and figure out some alternative approaches to your education? Given how automated everything is, taking 1-2 math foundationly courses shouldn’t be in the way of you pursuing a college degree.
