Sanat kendimi görebildiğim tek kariyer
Buluştuğum ve konuştuğum herkes, reklam öğeleri için alanın şu anda ne kadar korkunç göründüğü, nasıl kırıldığına veya evsiz kalacağına, nasıl bu kadar rekabet edeceğine ve sizi yaktığı hakkında devam ettiğinde ve devam ettiğinde. Ama bunların hiçbiri beni caydırmıyor. Bir kalem tutabildiğimden beri çiziyorum. Geleceğimin iyi bir resmine sahip değilim ama sanat bildiğim tek şey sanat, hala 5-10 yıl yapacağım. Sanat, yalnız hayatımda tek istikrarlı sabittir.
İnsanlar tutkunuzu işinize dönüştürmemeyi söylüyor ama kendimi başka bir şey yaptığını göremiyorum. Bölgemdeki grafik tasarım ve illüstrasyon programlarına bakıyorum. Muhtemelen kötü bir fikir olduğunu biliyorum. Yasak bir sevgiliyi falan görmek için gizlice görünüyor. Kendimle gerçekçi olmalıyım, ancak 8 saat boyunca elektronik tablolara bakma veya müşterileri çalma düşüncesi beni korkula dolduruyor. Kendimi başarısızlığa hazırlamak istemiyorum ama beni aramayı bırakmayacak. Alan için hiç umut var mı? Nefret etmeyeceğim bir alternatif var mı?

Yes, I agree with turning passion into a job. But I believe that is not the complete picture.
Instead, combining your talent x passion x mission into a job is what makes you money (so you don’t have to stare at a computer for 8 hours a day).
1. To start, I’d focus on talent first.
What can you do in your field (art) that can make you money (survival job)?
Maybe selling fun pins, bookmark, etc, online? Or teach a quick 1-hour drawing lesson to people? Or draw charicatures in a christmas market or weddings, etc? (The options are endless!)
While in that job, save and invest money so you don’t get trapped in one job. Investing (in a long-term low-cost index fund) gives you an option in the future, as I see a lot of people choose to spend money on pleasure over purpose.
2. Lean into passion as time goes.
While in your survival job(s), you’ll have more money as emergency fund + fuck you money (6-12 months living cost saved), and I’d go into the deeper skills. Do you want to expand to creating your own business full-time, or do you want to work for someone? Perhaps a non-profit art therapist, or a teacher at school, etc. This is the fun time that you get to explore more of your style and thus your future, and gain skills for that path. Once you know what you need to afford that path, then you can pivot, given that you have enough money.
3. Niche with your mission.
After you decided your path in the step 2, you can further ask yourself: what’s the problem that you solve using your art? It’s what differentiates McDonalds with a fine-dining restaurant. Both serves food, but one solves convenience issue, the other solves curiosity issue, for example. Likewise, it’s becoming one differentiating factor that you can leverage. And the more leverage you have = the more you can pursue it as a calling that makes money.
There you go. It’s the 8-10 year gameplan if you want to turn your talent into a dream job.
So many got stuck in not having enough money to pivot (step 1), so make sure you choose purpose!
