Lise 3. Sınıf Öğrencisi, Genel Not Ortalaması İyi, Ama Ana Dalı Net Değil. Community College mı yoksa 4 Yıllık College mı?
Sonraki adımlarımı bulmaya çalışan bir lise son sınıf öğrencisiyim ve kendimi oldukça sıkışmış hissediyorum. 3.9 ağırlıklı not ortalamam var ve biyoloji gibi AP dersleri alıyorum. Akademik olarak iyi durumdayım ama hangi alanda uzmanlaşmak istediğime dair net bir fikrim yok. Animasyon, biyoloji, içerik oluşturma, kodlama, çizim ve hatta yüzme gibi pek çok farklı şeyle ilgileniyorum ancak henüz herhangi bir alanda özellikle güçlü değilim. En tutkulu olduğum şeylerden biri de video ve içerik hazırlamak, ancak bunun riskli olduğunu ve uzun vadede bağlı kalmanın gerçekçi olmadığını biliyorum. Etrafımdaki çoğu insan gibi ben de yedek olarak bir diploma almak istiyorum, ancak üniversitenin çok fazla çalışma ve sürekli proje gerektireceğinden ve bu tutkuyu keşfetmeye zamanım olmayacağından endişeleniyorum. Farklı alanları keşfetmek için bir devlet üniversitesinde başlamanın mı yoksa doğrudan dört yıllık bir üniversiteye gitmenin mi daha mantıklı olduğuna karar vermeye çalışıyorum. Para benim en büyük endişem değil ama kabul edilmemek ya da yanlış yolu çok erken seçmek beni endişelendiriyor. Siz benim yerimde olsaydınız ya da benzer bir şey yaşadıysanız ne önerirsiniz? Ana dalınızı nasıl buldunuz ve devlet koleji mi yoksa üniversite mi sizin için daha iyi sonuç verdi? Herhangi bir tavsiye gerçekten yardımcı olacaktır.

I advised my younger sister to go to community college for three main reasons:
1. You can avoid weed-out classes, which helps keep your GPA strong.
2. You can strengthen your foundation in core subjects. Upper-division classes are very complex, but they become much easier once you have a solid foundation. At universities, large class sizes often reduce opportunities to work one-on-one with professors.
3. Financial mindfulness: about $1,500 for 15 credits at a community college compared to $1,500 for just 3 credits at a university.

Nope. If you’re taking AP classes and getting As there is zero reason to go to community college instead of a four-year university.
Community college is for people who didn’t take AP classes and didn’t get straight As in high school but now they’re ready to get their s**t together.
College is for learning how to think critically. I didn’t know what I would major in when I started and ended up with a humanities degree from a very expensive liberal arts college and am doing great. Don’t let people tell you that college degrees are a waste of time/money or that you have to have your whole life planned out before you go.
Community college is a good way to bang out gen eds and try classes as well, but it’s generally recommended because it’s less expensive. If money isn’t a concern, then you may as well start off with a 4 year school and just use the first year or two to try out different classes and see what you like.
Community college is for people who need to get their shit together. Walk into any CC vs a four year, there is an obvious difference in quality of student. You have a strong GPA and are doing well. Go four year, freshman year is a lot of exploratory classes typically regardless. Not having a path is completely different from not trying until college to have a future. You don’t have a path, but you’ve worked your ass off for your future
