Kariyer yolunu ve izin süresini yeniden düşünen transfer öğrencisi
23 yaşındayım ve yaklaşık üç sömestrdir Siyaset Bilimi bölümünde geçiş yapıyorum. Son iki sömestrde nispeten iyi bir performans göstermiş olmama rağmen (5 A, 1 B ve 2 F), bu ana dalın ve yolun benim için uygun olup olmadığını sorgulamaya başladım. Başlangıçta göçmenlik avukatı olmayı planlamıştım ama bu tutkum azaldı ve artık hukuk fakültesine devam etme konusunda kendime güvenmiyorum. Sadece kötü notlar nedeniyle değil, aynı zamanda kıvılcımın artık orada olmaması nedeniyle.
Son zamanlarda, hangi kariyere devam edeceğim konusunda giderek daha fazla kaybolmuş ve bunalmış hissediyorum. Öğretmen olmayı düşündüm çünkü bu fikir her zaman hoşuma gitti, ancak maaşla ilgili endişelerden dolayı çoğu zaman bunu reddettim. Bu kariyer değişikliğini aileme ve yakın arkadaşlarıma anlattığımda ya gülüyorlar ya da maaş ve genel olarak kariyer vb. nedenlerden dolayı beni cesaretlendiriyorlar.
Herhangi bir önemli karar vermeden önce 2026 Baharını tam zamanlı çalışmaya ve netlik kazanmaya ayırmayı düşünüyorum. Gerçekçi ve başarılı bir yol bulmaya çalışırken sonraki adımlarımın ne olması gerektiğine dair herhangi bir tavsiye veya tavsiye var mı?

Not all careers will lead to make millions of dollars, yet some people will still be happy with the career they chose as long as it pays their bills!
It’s ok to take a gap semester, but I suggest you talk to your school advisor if you want to change your major. I cannot suggest a major for you since my background is totally in a separate field. Whatever major you chose later, make sure to start applying for internships after your first semester with an established GPA. Always work part time while studying fulltime so that by the time you graduate you have saved enough money to have your own rental place and moved out!
Keep up the good work and don’t worry about the Naysayers! You will come to realize that you will have less friends around and less people who will support you in your decisions, but that’s ok. Just make sure that you are pleasing yourself and choosing yourself first no matter what! Good luck
1. You can’t just get any job just like that in today’s economy.
2. Teaching has turned into a temporary job at best, like the military is for many. Go in thinking it will give you purpose, leave disgusted when you realize it is just a job, and one that has been co-opted by the shittiest people you know to turn bright young minds into warehouse robots. This is the best case scenario btw. Most of the work is braindead online lessons on Chromebooks that you just… supervise? The rest is ensuring that a 15 year old with the emotional and developmental maturity of a 3 year old with meth-head parents, does not assault you or others.
Get a job as a substitute teacher while in college and try it out yourself.
