Kariyer Yolu Tavsiyesi

Hello u/ChemistryIsSooooCool , that is a very reasonable conflict to find yourself in between wanting to pursue either the medical field or English! A couple things: you have a ton of opportunity both now in high school and coming up in college, as freshman year especially offers a great opportunity to try different classes and see what things interest you most. If you have the chance in high school, I would encourage you to take as many science and english classes as you can to see what interests you/ what you’re best at. In many ways, it would be best to go in with an open mind into college as much could change by then!

That being said, it would not hurt to begin to consider why you’re considering each path and what it might look like. The medical field has a wide range of careers from x-ray tech (a certification/ trade school degree), to nursing, to full-on med school. If you are hard-set on becoming a provider, I would encourage you to also consider NP or PA as both of those have shorter schooling than becoming a doctor if med school is a concern. English is a bit more straight-foward upfront with getting an English degree, but has less options after graduating (becoming a professor or teacher, getting into writing or editing). Something good would be to interview a few people in each field and see what it’s really like in the day to day-to-day of each job rather than what you might imagine the job is like. It might also be helpful to consider the lifestyle you want to live in the future: Are you willing to get potentially get paid less to go into English? (nothing wrong with that, just something to consider) Are you wanting to live almost anywhere if you got into the medical field (depends on specialty) or would you be fine living in a college city/town (if you become a professor)? What do you want your day-to-day to look like? Interacting with patients, doing surgery, or teaching in front of a class?

Finally, search your motives for picking these two careers: Do you feel pressured by family? Is it the status or money? The ideal of what it might look like? At the end of the day, YOU are the one who will be going to this career every day and every job has its challenges and rewards. Hope this helps, wish you the best!

It’s your life, not your family’s. You should be leaving your dream instead of trying to live up to your parents’ standard at your own demise.
If your parents didn’t become doctors, then it’s not you who has to fulfill that dream for them 😂😂 that they failed at.

Major in whatever you want! They will
Be disappointed, but they will get over it. It’s best to disappoint others to live up to your own dreams instead of pleasing others at your own demise/risks. Good luck
