Power plant operations pays well and doesnt destroy your body, depending on the plant. Lots of states require a relatively easy to get entry level license. The further licenses are harder to get but significantly increase your earning potential to six figures shockingly quickly. Its a very specific type of person needed to do the job but if that’s you it’s a good career.
Yeah i think you are right about this, it’s a system. The only thing you can do is spending the absolute minimum and saving as much as you can.
Trust me on the trades man, they’re not looking for “greens.” At most you need 2 years of prior experience, and some connections, in order to even get a decent job starting out. I could go on about my Welding experience, but apparently, it doesn’t matter. I’m a worthless Welder and I will never touch a machine in my life.
It was fun while it lasted, only wish it lasted longer. Oh well, just getting a degree. That oughtta change things.
I can say the same about all of these options. I am autistic though and that plays a big part in it for me because 80% of autistic people don’t work because there’s always some problem with every job.
I am currently being supported by the government, my parents (even at age 52!), and only a small percentage due to an online business that I tried but I couldn’t make a full-time income with it and now I am so burnt out that I can barely even do that.
Work is bullshit! The way that the world is designed is strictly for production and so that people can be cogs in a machine and some of us know that this is not right. What pisses me off is that the majority of people that work also complain about their jobs yet they don’t think this deeply about it and just accept it and don’t even try to find a solution or an alternative.
Has it occurred to you that you are actually making yourself richer by working? You only mentioned the boss benefiting. You actually benefit much more.
please do not get dragged down by the anti all work Reddit echo chamber. the fact is you need to provide for yourself and a minimum wage career likely will not cover your needs if you’re forced to retire due to medical issues or whatever.
I hated working too when I worked minimum wage jobs. so I went to college and found a career that I actually tolerate, it is no physical stress on my body, and pays a living wage. this is not remotely uncommon. this is why people go to college or acquire career specific training.
if I had to pick between minimum wage and my job/any of my post college jobs, again and again I would choose my career. reddit wants you to believe there is no point in trying. don’t fall for it. there’s a whole world past this dumbass screen.
A bachelor’s degree is free in many U.S. states and it will open many doors for you than not having it at all! Definitely don’t do trades especially if you are a woman. Definitely go back to college to take advantage of the free 6 year free tuition.
