Günümüzde hangi sertifikalar üniversite diplomasının yerini aldı?

Güvenli bir işe ve sağlam bir maaşa sahip olmak için 4 yıllık üniversite diplomasına sahip olmak şart mıdır? Çünkü pek çok kişi becerilerin daha önemli olduğunu ve üniversite diplomasını nasıl kolayca sertifikayla değiştirebileceğinizi söylüyor. Peki 6 ay ile 2 yıl arasında hangi sertifikaları alabilir veya öğrenebilirsiniz?

    Skills matter way more then a college degree. A college degree is just one of the requirements, and to be honest having a college degree doesn’t mean a secure job. What’s even more secure than having a good job is being financially well.

    I was once in a meeting room because we had layoffs and they told us who will be a new manager. Some of us made a fuss and the higher up said if you have any problems, say it in the chatroom or speak up clearly. Two weeks later, he was laid off as well which was a surprise to me.

    Certificate courses are good but again they’re just add-ons to your resume. Back in 2020 2021 a lot of people I knew got coding certificates and got good jobs. They’re all got laid off 2-3 years later. I would learn a trade and master in it.

    It is absolutely not a must to have a college degree. From personal experience, I got my college degree in Computer Science but can assure that I was only marginally “smarter” from a technical skills standpoint after I graduated. However, I did a lot of growing up in those 4 years, made mistakes, figured out who I wanted to be, etc. It was an insanely expensive way to grow up, but that’s what happened for me nonetheless.

    For me personally, when looking at a resume of a candidate for a position I’m hiring, the college degree doesn’t always sway my decision one way or another. If it’s a leadership or management role that I’m hiring for, I usually have HR put in a filter for a 4-year degree as a “preferred but not required”. With a degree, there is a higher likelihood (but not a guarantee) of that candidate taking business, accounting, professional writing, and communication courses. I took all those courses in college, and they ended up being the most valuable courses I took even with my other CS related courses.

    To your question though about replacing a degree with a certification; in the IT world, you can absolutely replace a degree with technical certifications. If I see a resume with valid certifications, maybe advanced versions of those certs, I’m going to want to talk with that candidate. Anyone can get a test dump though and cheat their way through those exams, so I also need to vet the candidate to determine if they actually know their stuff. there are ways around it with AI of course, but I’m not just looking for technical skills either (see above). Regardless, you can learn technical skills and pass certs in 6 months or less if you are really driven. The one thing you’ll lack is on-the-job experience, which is a chicken or the egg type situation.

    So it comes down to your ability to communicate, interview well, show that you are worth investing time and energy into. For the hiring manager, they are looking for the least risky prospect to invest in, so it can be a combination of all the things I mentioned above.

    some trade schools end up as a certification or a license.

    Certification in getting a white collar job are kinda in the past. My company wont hire someone who has just a certificate and no experience. Those who have undergrad or masters with no experience are entry level. 
    Weve hired folks with masters who had tons of internships and they still weren’t at a good start on your own level…made it real difficult for senior folks to train them and do their own workload as well.
