    I did the same recently!

Anyways if you’re a singer songwriter I can give you some advice as it’s been my passive source of income for over 10 years now.[heres](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpmJI5fkNMfUGRJLdHzCUO6B262xKOIOL&si=YxIR55QpK1B__2uh) proof.

Anyways here’s my advice for a quick turn around and some cash, or at least a chance at some cash. This depends on your skill level obviously. If you suck, no amount of music advice will work but I’ve got a feeling that you dont suck. I should charge for this but here’s the sauce with no BS. If you do this you WILL make money with your music.

    1) go on soundcloud and spend 2- 3 hours listening to any producers that pop up when you click each genre you’re interested in. You’re gonna hear a ton of terrible shit. Just accept that as part of the process. While you listen, take note of any artist you like and follow them or write their name down on a list. Pay attention to any record labels that pop up during your listening session. When record labels pop up, click them and see what types of music they put out. If you like it, hit follow. Pro tips-

-dont follow or pay any real attention any artist who hasn’t put out music in the past month. Unless they’ve changed to another artist name.
-dont follow any label that hasn’t put out a record in the past month or that isn’t poppin on Spotify fr. Some record labels are deceptive. They don’t get any plays on YouTube or SoundCloud but Spotify is poppin.
    – your goal here is to figure out what kind of producer you wanna work with to get the sound you want. And you wanna learn what record labels exist online for these records as you WILL be signing any work you do from here on.
-TOP PRIORITY are artists who already have records signed to an online record label and regularly release songs on said label.

Do this process for a day or two. By then you should be following a good amount of artists you LIKE. Not that are FAMOUS or something.

    2) on the third day- you’re gonna start to reach out to these artist that you followed and you’re going to start EMAILING them ONE BY ONE. No bulk bullshit. If they have a manager, email the manager as if it’s the artist. In most cases, it is. Lol. Here’s pro tips-

    – be respectful and humble. Like you’re talking to a future boss. Don’t say ‘yo’ or ‘collab bro??’ or any shit like that. Kiss ass a little but not too much. Just enough to show that you’re serious.

    3) link any current songs you’ve recorded thus far into that email. This needs to be a playlist or a video of you singing or something. Just something to show that you got the goods fr. Don’t over think it. Just send it and see what happens.

    4) At the end of the email as for a collaboration. You can say something like- I was wondering if you’re open to any collaborations at the moment? Or would you like to collaborate? Etc.

    5) do this for 3-4 artists you really wanna work with then wait a week.

Collaborate with whoever says yes. Whoever says no or doesn’t respond in a week, don’t fret. Next week you’re gonna repeat this process anyways while you work on the songs from the producers that said yes already.

Most producers who have records signed to labels already wil give you a final master that already got a slot on a label as a release. Signed whatever it is unless-

It’s with any label trying to take more than 50% of the master and publishing. 50% is the top end of fair. 50% goes to the label, 50% split between you and the producer. The closer to 100% after 50 is the more it’s a bad deal. The closer to 0% (below 50%) it is the better the deal. Also check the time frame the track is gonna be with the label. Is it forever? Is it 10 years? This matters as the deal you sign today could be what it is forever. So if it’s a bad deal, say no. Respectfully.

So ce you need cash, you’re gonna be asking for an advance from whatever label wanna sign your record. That advance will be up to 500 bucks or so until you start blowing up more.

You do not have to pay back advances, they are not loans but they do get recouped from the earnings from the record. So you can’t lose with an advance. The record either does well and you get paid after recoupment or it doesn’t and you still got paid.

This is how you win. This is how you make money with music fr.

If you keep your head down, stay professional no matter what and don’t stab people in the back (have honor) then you will go far.

It might take a while to get going. You may have to take a temporary job or two but don’t fret. This process works.

    Good luck.

Just find work first and foremost. Ideally chill place, quiet office etc. Then you can build from there

I hope you’re able to do it. I say you only get one life, so don’t do anything that makes you miserable. Are you able to make it on a low stress part time job or two until you can figure out what you want to do and how to do so?

Just want to say I think a quit-on-the-spot is a rite of passage (or a canon event) and it sounds like you made the move you needed to make for your own life. It happens. I rage-quit a job like 4 years ago in Chicago and ended up with a wonderful career path and life in New Zealand, so I’m incredibly grateful my old boss pushed me too far. I was devastated at the time but it meant giving up a life that was never meant for me. Sometimes these things are a nudge in the right direction.

The advice you’re looking for would be, looking for a job prior to quitting. That’s it

You probably like not being homeless. You should have been job searching as of yesterday.
