26m yaşındayım ve sadece 20 cent’ini öğrendim

Koleji gerçekten kullanmak istediğimden emin olmadığım bir dereceyle mezun oldum. Son 2.5 yıldır gıda endüstrisinde çalıştım ve başka bir yerde bir iş arkadaşının GM’nin hemen altındaki bir pozisyon için sadece 20 sent sunulduğunu öğrendim. Sonu bir şekilde karşılamak ve olduğu gibi bir kenara koyamıyorum ve burada promosyonları takip etmek için buna değer gibi görünüyorsa tartışıyorum. Şu anda bir yöneticiyim ama farklı bir alana nasıl aktarılacağım hakkında hiçbir fikrim yok ve açıkçası ekleme/dezeksliyim, bu yüzden ofis çalışması zor olurdu. Demirci gibi zevk aldığım bir şeyi takip etmeyi çok isterim ama açıkçası şu anda yaptığım şeyi bile ödeme ihtimali düşük.

Bana uyan yeni bir kariyerin nasıl bulunacağına dair herhangi bir tavsiyede bulunuyor musunuz? Ana mücadelem yolu değiştirme isteği değil ama aslında yapabileceğimi düşünüyorum.

Hmm…

If I were in your shoes, I would tell myself that I’m going to spend the next 2 years asking people A LOT of questions about what they do. That will involve getting some sort of volunteer position or joining some sort of club that exposes you to people who are in more physical (less data entry paperwork) styles of work.

There’s probably some black smith adjacent job out there that pays decently… maybe it means you are a welder in the oil and gas industry… or maybe it means you teach blacksmith classes for $200 an hour at a local history museum… idk what it is yet, but try to meet as many people as you can this year, and when you see someone doing something and think 🤔 “I could do that”, ask them if it’s a decent way to make a living and what the downsides have been.

For the promising leads, try to shadow these people and see if there are unusual ways to get your foot in the door (even part time) while you keep your current job for stability.

I’m also 26 and found myself in a very similar situation to you last year, now I’m starting school tomorrow to pursue another career. The biggest questions you gotta ask yourself is what am I good at, and what do I enjoy/hate/can tolerate about a job. Ideally you want a job with characteristics that mostly fall in the enjoy/can tolerate category. Write them down if that helps. Then brainstorm some careers, browse online or even better look at community colleges or trades schools near you and see what they offer. There’s tons of options in trades so explore them all, healthcare is also an option with lots of diploma programs you can do in 2 years or less. See if you can find opportunities to shadow people at work or find volunteer work that will give you the opportunity to talk to those people. At the end of the day, just remember there is no perfect job. Every job will have some aspect that you dislike, so rather than trying to find the perfect job try to find something that you can be good at, tolerate well, and allows you to enjoy your hobbies and lifestyle outside of work.
