25 milyonluk restoran müdürü, okula ne için gitmek istediğime dair kesinlikle hiçbir fikri yok.
Şu anda saatte 25,80 dolar kazanan bir restoran işletmecisiyim, işimden keyif almıyorum ve hayatımın geri kalanında kendimi bu işi yaparken göremiyorum. Kendi dairemde rahatça yaşayabileceğim ve yine de 401 bin/Roth Ira/tatil fonlarıma, tercihen MF’ye uygun bir programla katkıda bulunabileceğim yeterli para (80 bin $ +) kazanmak istiyorum.
Benim sorunum, aşırı düşünen biri olmam ve okula ne için gitmek istediğime dair kesinlikle hiçbir fikrimin olmaması. Ne zaman bir şey düşünsem, fazla düşünüyorum ve ya iş bulamazsam (berbat bir görüşmeciyim), ya yapay zeka sahayı ele geçirirse, buna benzer bir şeyden korkuyorum.
Yapay zekâya karşı dayanıklı gibi görünen ticaretlere aldırış edeceğimi sanmıyorum, açık havada olmaktan hoşlanıyorum, aynı zamanda birçoğu MF gibi görünüyor ama daha uzun çalışma saatleri var. Çıraklık eğitimi aradım ama onlara nasıl gireceğimi bulamadım. Ben de finans sektörüne girmek isterim ama bu sektörde yapay zeka benim için endişeleniyor. BT açıkçası benim de ilgimi çekiyor ama çok doymuş bir alan olduğunu duydum. Kahretsin, öğretmen olmayı bile düşündüm ama pek fazla para kazanmıyorlar.

Whatever you do, don’t quit your job until you’ve made a decision for a path. The job market is really tough right now and you have a pretty decently paying one which is more than some people have right now. Perhaps a reframing of that fact is the first step – gratitude for what you already have.
You can enroll in community college and take a few relatively inexpensive courses online or in person. In person is probably more effective for helping you determine your next steps. Meeting other people and discussing your future ideas could help you steer your path. There’s plenty of other people out there in your position.
You’re not stuck because you don’t know what to do. You’re stuck because you’re looking for a risk-free option, and that doesn’t exist. I know this is a bit blunt, but stay with me.
Every path you listed has a “but what if” attached. Trades? AI-proof but long hours. Finance? Good money but AI concerns. IT? Interesting but saturated. Teaching? Meaningful but low pay. The fear of “what if I pick the wrong one” is costing you more than actually picking wrong would. You’ve spent how long thinking about this? Meanwhile you’re still at $25.80/hour doing work you don’t enjoy.
On trades and apprenticeships — contact your local union halls directly. IBEW for electrical, UA for plumbing/pipefitting, local HVAC contractors. Most have websites with apprenticeship applications or phone numbers. Look for job fairs where you can go meet with people in the field and ask them about the work. You’re overthinking it is leading to making it feel more complicated than it is.
On the interviewing fear — that’s a skill, not a fixed trait. You manage a restaurant, which means you handle customers, staff problems, and chaos daily. You can learn to talk about yourself and your experience for 30 minutes. Practice with a friend or record yourself pretending to be at a job interview.
It is tough right now, but depending on the field, there are opportunities. Come up with a plan and make small, targeted goals to get you closer.
