- Giriş maaşı 62.5 bin, ortalama 75 bin ve sınırı 90 bin. Fazla mesai ve/veya gece vardiyası yaparak 100k-120k olabilir
Yol 2: düşündüğüm yol
- Solunum terapisti derecemi bitir
- Önkoşul birimlerini almak için bir yıl tıp öncesi eğitim alın
- Anestezi uzmanı, kardiyolog, dahiliye uzmanı veya radyolog olmak için tıp fakültesine kaydolun (en çok bu alanlar ilgimi çekiyor)
- Okulu 41 yaşında bitireceğim
- Çoğu için giriş maaşı ~250 bin, ortalama 500-800 ve gerçekte maksimum yok
27 yaşındayım, şu anda CNC işlemeden kariyer değişikliği yapıyorum çünkü bu beni perişan ediyor. Bir anlık hevesle RT’yi seçtim çünkü ne yapmak istediğime dair hiçbir fikrim yoktu ama dürüst olmak gerekirse bu ilk dönem tıp alanına aşık oldum. Gelecekte kesinlikle tıp uzmanı olarak çalışmak istiyorum. Bir partnerim yok ve asla çocuk sahibi olmayı planlamıyorum, bu yüzden evin dışında geçirdiğim uzun saatler sorun değil ve gece vardiyasında çalışmak beni rahatsız eden bir şey değil. Burada dürüst olacağım, doktor olmayı istememi sağlayan şeylerden biri de maaş. Çok fakir büyüdüm ve bu bende maddi bir travma yarattı. Ayrıca şu anda ailemin emekliliklerini planlamaya çalışmasını izliyorum ve işler pek iyi gitmiyor. Onlara hak ettikleri emekliliği, hak ettikleri rahatlıkla sunmak isterim. Ayrıca oldukça pahalı olan bazı kişisel planlarım var (kendime bir ev satın almak bunlardan biri) bu yüzden iyi bir maaş benim için gerçekten önemli.
Bulunduğum yerde öğrenim ücreti oldukça ucuz, yaklaşık 2,5 bin sömestr bu yüzden bu gerçekten endişe verici değil. Ayrıca iyi öğrenci kredilerine de erişimim var.
Bütün bunları bazı insanlarla konuştum ve onlara okulu bitirdiğimde 41 yaşında olacağımı söylediğimde şu harika yanıtları aldım: "tamam ve? her iki durumda da 40 yaşında olacaksın."
Tıp fakültesi başvurumun gerçekten rekabetçi olması nedeniyle hala reddedilebileceğini biliyorum (yılda 1500 başvuru için 300 yer). Şu anki notlarım tüm derslerimdeki sınıf ortalamasından daha iyi bu yüzden iyi bir not ortalaması elde edebileceğimi düşünüyorum (burada buna cote R deniyor)

Ultimately it’s your choice, but you seem to have a stronger desire for med school. More importantly, you’re too concerned with age. As you mentioned, you have no obligations like a partner or kids, so the amount of time it takes to finish med school doesn’t matter.
I don’t think this is really RT vs med school.
It sounds more like you’re deciding how long you’re willing to stay in “maybe” mode. With RT, you finish school, start working in a few years, and have a pretty predictable income without another long stretch of applications, exams, and waiting. Med school is choosing years of prereqs, admissions, and training where you don’t actually know yet where you’ll land, in exchange for a much higher upside later.
Your age concerns feel secondary. The harder question is whether you’re okay spending most of your 30s still in that uncertain phase, especially given how important financial stability is for you and where that comes from.
Wanting the salary here doesn’t come off as shallow. It sounds tied to security and not wanting to live on the edge again. But that also means rejection or delay would hit harder than just “oh well, I tried.”
Instead of asking which path is better, it might help to ask which regret you’d rather live with: taking the long shot and it not working out, or choosing the stable path and wondering later if you stopped too soon.
Neither option is small. You’re really choosing which kind of uncertainty you’re more willing to carry.
I mean either way the first step is the RT degree so hunker down and focus on that. Once you have that degree secured you have some job security locked down either way. I think being a doctor would be really cool and you should go for it. But if you get that far and it isn’t working out or clicking you still have a stable degree. One step at a time. And that being said, you totally can accomplish it if you’re willing to work at it.
You should research medical specialties. It’s not just about what interests you, but what you’ll get accepted into. Cardiology and anesthesiology etc are considerably more competitive than internal medicine.
How many pre-reqs will you have? If you didn’t graduate on a STEM track, it’ll take awhile for you to get the prereqs for medical school. Where do you plan on getting the prereqs done? Your current university or a community college? Med school prereqs are very in high demand so you might not be able to enroll in all your courses in a timely manner
