Are you in a legal state? They are smoking some with that bad advice. Throw it in the trash.
Throw whoever they are in the bin. Your instincts are bang on
– Location pages are still useful.
– Services pages are vital.
– GA4 tracking is useful, depending on what else you’re using.
– It’s true that backlinks don’t need to be relevant.
– Backlinks are the main focus of SEO but blogs are important for ranking for long tails queries.
– I guess it could take a year if your industry is hyper competitive and your monthly backlink budget isn’t high, but generally it takes 3-6 months for meaningful effects. If your business serves locally then it’s definitely not the case.
– Tracking conversions is THE priority (but in the earlier stages the priority is obv increasing rankings, and then increasing website traffic).
– GBP technically isn’t part of SEO (as it doesn’t impact the ranking of the website) but it does impact what you rank for and website traffic, so it’s typically included in any SEO service.
– Yes they might have a network of sites for their own backlinks, which could be sufficient.
– No idea what “templates” they/you are referring to, but no page takes more than a week of solid effort.
That advice is completely wrong.
“Location pages are outdated”
– Location pages are the ONLY way to show Google you serve those areas. Without them, you won’t rank outside your main city.
“Service pages aren’t really needed”
– Service pages are essential. How else do you explain what you offer? One page per service (furnace repair, AC installation, heat pump service, etc.)
“Backlinks don’t need to be relevant”
– For local businesses, citations (directories) are more important than backlinks anyway. Random spammy backlinks don’t help.
“Blogs should be the main focus”
– No. Service pages and location pages rank local businesses. Blogs dilute your topical authority unless they’re directly about your services.
“It can take a year”
– If content, website structure, citations, technical all done right, Google ranks within days not even months.
“Google Business Profile isn’t part of SEO”
– Not true
“Their network of sites is enough”
– Not sure what type of sites they have but such backlink powered rank can go down overnight.
What your heating business actually needs:
Homepage: Brand + heating/HVAC + main city
Service pages: Furnace repair, AC installation, heat pump service, duct cleaning, maintenance, emergency repair
One page each, covering the complete topic. (Very important part)
Location pages: One for each neighborhood/town you serve
About, Contact, Legal pages
Proper interlinking: Location pages link to service pages
Schema: LocalBusiness, Service schemas
Citations: Yelp, Angi, HomeAdvisor, other local directories.
Technical: Fast site, mobile-friendly, clean code
That’s it. No year-long wait. No blogs work. No PBN backlinks.
Honestly, that sounds pretty off to me. Location pages and service pages are usually super important for local businesses, GA4 is standard for tracking, and relevant backlinks still matter a lot. Blogs help, but they shouldn’t be the only focus. Tracking conversions and optimizing your Google Business Profile are key for local SEO too. The idea that their own network of sites is “enough” for backlinks is a red flag. I asked Taktical Digital about this before hiring them, and they gave clear, realistic advice that actually made sense. I’d suggest getting a second opinion before committing.
