A subdomain will be treated as a separate domain.
If you want the blog to actually contribute to your topical authority and site rank, then you want a subfolder.
always a subfolder.

Despite what others will tell you, it really doesn’t make much of a difference.
However, assuming you are using the same CMS for both the website and blog, I would recommend the subfolder. It is easier to maintain that way. It will all be styled to match. Using the subdomain will be like maintaining two separate websites. That’s more work for the development team.
